if you are gonna put some ointment on his bum at each change, use some cheapie cheap fleece liners (or flushable/disposable liners), 'cause otherwise it isn't very cloth friendly. a lot of people like to use diaper ointment w/every change but i never knew why. a lot of the babies at work got stuff w/each change, but they still would get rashes just as often as the other babies. cloth at least helps prevent rashes... better than cream does, i'd bet, but who knows why your pedi recommended it.
ADORABLE pics. post 'em to dec2007babies and MDC, if you get a chance; everyone will pass out from the cuteness.
i can't BELIEVE there is a baby about that size in me right now. i have so many questions i want to ask you and i want to hear your birth story but i know you must be pretty busy right now since you are a mommy now, not a layabout with nothing to do like i am.
I really dont think the ointment is all necessary. They told us to use it, and we ended up not.. and nothing tragic happened to masons butt. The only rashes he ever got were from disposables.
That aside, he really is adorable!! Hes about the same size as Jett, but like 100x cuter!
BAYBEEEZ! I'm so going to have to show this pictures to Corey tomorrow when he's awake. When I showed him the ones from yesterday, he started pointing and saying, baby! baby! These pictures make me wish I started with cloth, because it's ohsocute to see the fluffy butt on such a small little one. I can't wait to hear more about how you're doing and labor and all of that, but I know you must be super busy. I hope your little package of goodies arrives soon!
Awwwwww! I can't believe he was conceived only a couple days after mine!! About the ointment, it seems really strange to put it on every time. If you use any, just make sure it doesn't have any fish oil in it - I'm pretty sure that is the stuff that makes cloth stink to high heaven. We use Butt Paste, and it definitely stains, but we aren't planning on reselling our diapers. I have never tried getting the stains out. All the other ointments we have used have stained some too, except for this hippie handmade green natural goo stuff that is for the heavy duty rashes. This reminds me, I haven't washed her diapers yet! And she's probably that big by now! How's it feel to make all of us freak out about preparing? :P
Every baby is different I think, as far as whether or not they are prone to rashes. I honestly don't think there's a correlation between using cremes and getting rashes or not. We used no cremes and only light powder with Rachel and she has hardly ever gotten rashes. I guess do what your momma instinct tells you ;-)
