And we're back! I must apologize for the delay (as I know all of you are just dying with the anticipation of what I, teachlikeroslin/Annie, think about these episodes). I don't even have any good excuses. I've just been super lazy and filled with Netflix that took up my precious BSG time.

I know. I suck.

But here we are! Resurrection Ship Part II! I ( Read more... )

4) I think the reason why Laura and Cain didn't particularly take to each other, is because they might just be too similar. They are both able to assess a situation coldly and rationally, and I think that if there had been no Adama between them and in time, after a few major conflicts, these two ladies could have kicked some major space ass. Still, Cain seemed to lack empathy and as you say, the ability to see the gray areas, and that's what got her killed in the end ( ... )

I haven't done a rewatch in so long so alot of what you mention is a little rusty in my mind. I do however remember very well Kara's speach at the funeral and thinking WTF are you talking about 'safer' are you mad. Since the woman arrived the proverbial shit started hitting the fan, she nearly murdered Adama and nearly started a civil war between the only two battleships left to humanity, which, by the way Kara, she left to die for the sake of spare parts. I know i'm over simplifying and that other people had there hand in all this but that speach really rubbed me up the wrong way.

This line says it all: "Sometimes terrible things have to be done."

One of my favorite quotes of the entire series, especially for how she delivers it. It's absolutely haunting.

Also, I 100% agree with you about Cain.

She's essentially giving Starbuck permission to kill her

Exactly. And I believe you can see that she knows that's what Kara was sent to do at the end. She knows & she doesn't judge her for it. And I think she senses that Adama called off his assassination, and it helped inspire her to do the same.

I honestly don't know which reason makes him so emoI think it's the whole thing. The fact that people have been brought to this point. Remember that he's a very idealistic man. He believes in the system, and in rules, and for him to think his father & the president would set out to kill an admiral & order Kara to do it because they didn't agree with what she was doing--despite that it was legal--was probably not only frightening to him on that level, but really depressing as well. What kind of future do you think ( ... )

Your point about Lee and depression is well taken. It would never occur to me to take my own life (I'll keep my claws hooked into this one as long as I can) so I can't really put myself into that kind of world ( ... )
