And we're back! I must apologize for the delay (as I know all of you are just dying with the anticipation of what I, teachlikeroslin/Annie, think about these episodes). I don't even have any good excuses. I've just been super lazy and filled with Netflix that took up my precious BSG time.

I know. I suck.

But here we are! Resurrection Ship Part II! I ( Read more... )

4) I think the reason why Laura and Cain didn't particularly take to each other, is because they might just be too similar. They are both able to assess a situation coldly and rationally, and I think that if there had been no Adama between them and in time, after a few major conflicts, these two ladies could have kicked some major space ass. Still, Cain seemed to lack empathy and as you say, the ability to see the gray areas, and that's what got her killed in the end.

7) Adama just goes for Lee's jugular in this scene. He flaunts his new relationship with Laura (not the emotional connection, but the confidential work relationship), I believe, knowing full well how Lee would take it. In some weird Freudian sense, this is the son and the daddy fighting over mommy's affection.

I think the first cracks in the relationship between Lee and Laura dated from before Home pt 1 & 2; and actually started at the time when Laura "let him down" when Lee was holding a gun to Tigh's head and she didn't follow him. I was listening to the podcast of that episode last week, and RDM actually said something along similar lines during the scene. (I felt so proud.)

Lee's such a boy scout, and he was always so eager to "protect" Laura from everyone, including (especially?) his father. He was completely in his element on Kobol, those first cracks mended as he skipped and trotted about like a proud dog. But then Laura kind of went off on her own and starting bonding with his father in that tent on Kobol. And Lee, with his puberescent black and white mind feels betrayed, because HE was the prince charming, and now SHE's gone off having a bond with his dad. He loved the animosity between Laura and Bill, because it validated his problems with his dad. And now the nice pretty princess turns out to be more of an Empress with a mind of her own, so he goes into a sulk. Classic Lee.

14) I don't get why Kara's giving this speech at all. It just felt a bit contrived to pepper it into the viewers minds "Don't forget, folks, Cain wasn't all bad. Because that's the kind of series we are!". I know, BSG, and I love you for it, but I can come to that conclusion by myself just fine.

15) I can only sigh and agree and count the hours till I get home so I can re-watch this scene.

Thanks for the lovely recap and thoughts!
