Blood On The Scales

My dog is staring at me. It's in the low 90s here today so I haven't been too interested in taking her out. We've gone up and down the block a few times which adds up to a little over a mile but she keeps going to the door and I keep trying to let her out (we stick her leash in the door so that she can't get away) and then she refuses to move. And ( Read more... )

I haven't read the review yet, because I'm still playing catch-up and Oath/Blood are possibly my FAVE.EPS.EVER so I don't want to go all out of ordery with them, but I just HAD to comment to love on the Callisto quote for the jump text. Brilliant!

Thanks! The process went like this: "Hm. 'Blood On The Scales.' Blood. Hm . . . Blood innocence! Xena! Gabrielle! Third season!" And since Maternal Instincts is, for me, the biggest blood innocence episode they did (even more than Gabrielle killing that woman in Brittania), I seized on the quote.

Gotta love Callisto!

The power of the guilt our dogs can have over us is unbelievable isn't it? My dogs a wimp, if it were in the 90's here i'd have to walk her super early in the am and again in the nighttime so she could walk in the cool, she just sits there and pants while you walk around the field if its hot. Yet she still fusses to be taken out. I have a weird dog obviously.

I'm with you on these two episodes possibly being the best two parter of the whole show. They are nail bitingly good. All fast paced and action packed for our flawed hero's and villain's. There are some truly shocking moments in here and some epic scenes that have stayed so vividly with me even though its been over a year since I watched them.

The thing about owning a basset hound is that I feel guilty all the time. We can be playing with each other and her tail can be wagging excitedly and she still looks super sad and depressed.

But she's so damn cute that I've just reconciled myself to it.

I really enjoyed this two parter when it first aired, but rewatching it this time just blew me away. I think they both get better and better with each rewatch, which is somewhat rare. I was just on edge the entire time and I knew what was going to happen! I should send the writers some flowers or something.

#3 - I love that. I think that's possibly one of the things that bugs me the most about all the people constantly criticising his decisions, and Laura's decisions. Because, yeah, sometimes they make mistakes, and yeah, they've become much more dictatorial, but the fact is no one else has a clue how hard it is to do the jobs that they do. No one else has to make these life or death decisions all the time. No one else has to have the safety of the human race at the forefront of their minds all the time. So Gaeta sitting there thinking he can be admiral and make it all better is frustrating, just like Lee's belief that when he's president, everything will be better is frustrating. Because it's so, so easy to criticise, but when you actually have to do the job? You realise that idealism isn't going to cut it. Does that mean no one else could do the jobs? No, it doesn't, but it does mean that when you're doing the job, you're going to make just as many mistakes and be open to just as much criticism as Roslin and Adama are, and it's not ( ... )

#8 - What is it with Baltar and his amazing ability to constantly ride out every crisis by finding someone to have sex with? How does he do that ( ... )

8) He's super lucky?

9) Out of all the cylons, I think Leoben would get over a thing like airlocking the quickest. Something like that would roll right off him. I do think his flobotnum box is really funny. "I knew this box would work." How convenient!

14) I agree. I want to hate them both but I can't (even though I do.) Zarek looks at him like, "Well, we gave it our best shot." And that's such an interesting response. No lofty speeches, no clamoring for martyrdom. He goes out quietly, which is such an interesting choice for that character.

I think Leoben is just one of those people who likes to look like he knows everything.

"I knew this box would work"

"Yeah, but Leoben, we just tried twenty seven other boxes before that one".

"Yes, but I knew this one would work. I foresaw it."

"Riiiiiight"
