Secondary to early childhood

This is for those amongst us who have transitioned from being a secondary teacher to an early childhood teacher. What inspired you to do it? What was it like for you? Other than the obvious maturity levels (emotional, intellectual, developmental and physical), how different was, and how difficult

I teach middle school but I work an after school program that is K-8. When I work with the little ones I have a lot of fun because they are so excited to learn. But I find it hard to teach things like counting and reading or how to write a summary. Plus, I'm not the nurturing type. I'm very sarcastic as well. When those little ones start crying or trying to hug or tattling "He picked his nose!!" I want to poke my eyes out.
