How are you handling the holidays?

1st - that is amazingly generous of your father. Bless him!

2nd - I don't have the holiday scheduling woes that many have because Jason has lost both of his parents so we spend most of the time with my family. But you are not the first on my FL to be worried about this, so maybe someone else can help!

Since getting married and having kids, the holiday schedule is a pain in the ass. The last few years we have decided that we will spend one holiday at home, and if anyone would like to join us, great. As the girls get older I think that we will be the holiday at home Christmas as I would also like them to have Christmas morning at home. In the past we have done Christmas eve with one family, and the day with another. If we continue to live in Oregon I imagine that we will travel up to Seattle for Thanksgiving, and celebrate Christmas here. Wow, I don't think I have wrote Christmas so many times in my entire life!

You are in a tough spot. Family too close to avoid but not close enough to be convenient. I would probably invite everyone to your house for Christmas dinner. I don't think you should have to drive all over the place with kids on Christmas day ( ... )

Jake and I fight about the holidays EVERY.SINGLE.YEAR. I wish things were different. This year Jake's hurt and upset because my dad's not coming (we're hosting). And it used to be worse because my MIL is a nurse and had a rotating schedule and often worked holidays. Now she's on M-F day shift, so things are quieter. This year we're doing this ( ... )

Wow on your Dad, that really is amazing.
