Continued from HereSpike had fallen back into the land of the blissfully unconscious again. Buffy and I ate our meal in a tense sort of silence, while we listen to Spike gasp in pain sometimes. I'm a Watcher, I shouldn't give a rats arse werther he un-lives or turns into ashes. Werther he is in pain or not. I really shouldn't. But I guess working ( Read more... )

Raising an eyebrow, I glance from Spike back to Buffy climbing out of the tree. Well, I guess since he doesn't have to breath it wouldn't matter much if the blankets are over him all the way. Walking over to him I pull them down a bit and slide my hand over his face. Still hot and clammy, not good at all. Sighing, I pull the blanket back up again ( ... )

I climb down the tree and stand there, waiting. I still don't see him and I'm about to call for him when I see him turn around and come down. Slowly. He finally jumped and I clapped, "Yay, you got out of the tree. If I had a cookie it would have your name on it," I said sarcastically. I was on edge now and grumpy. I so didn't like the idea of going and hunting for food, but it's all we could do. Plus, I had a feeling that the only reason we were getting whatever we were getting was because Wes wanted to save him or something. Spike that is. I've seen the way that Wes has been looking at him and can I say how wiggy it is?

...let see if we can hunt down more of those bunnydog things..."Uh huh," is all I say and wait until he walks past me for me to follow him. Well, come to think of it, Spike really isn't like, all that bad looking, but he isn't the hottest thing ever. Like Riley. I've always thought that Wes was gay, maybe he actually is, but geez, lay off the vamps, it'll be nothing but trouble. Maybe I should tell him that ( ... )

Raising and eyebrow, I scowl at her. "There's no need to be sarcastic, Miss Summers. We can't all be super hero's like yourself." Or Spike. They're both so damn strong and 'all powerful', where does that leave me? It was a big thing for me to get out of the sodding tree on my own. I don't need her to make fun of me dammit. I wonder what I did now to get her this way. I've changed but I doubt she'll see that, or wants to see that. As if she's the only one who's stuck here without friends of family. Well, I can do without the family, but I really miss my friends ( ... )

Nervously I take out my Swiss pocket knife and hold it over the fire. We wouldn't want an infection to boot now would we? I'm not even certain Buffy would get infected by this, but I'm not taking any chances. Pulling it out of the fire, I wipe it with my clean handkerchief.

Carefully I glance over at Spike who seems a little to euphorias about this. Maybe that was just his delirious look. Yes, that must be it. He was just...delerious. Still. But that would be over soon! And then we can finally work on way to get the hell home. I'm already getting sick of this place. Nothing but trouble.

I take Buffy's arm and run the knife over it. Stake? Wait a minute, I don't have any stakes. Putting the knife back into my pocket I glance around for one, just in case. "Errr...Miss Summers? Stake?" She gives me an annoyed look and points toward her bag. Right, a Slayer is always prepared. Hefting the stake I sit down next to them and watch as Buffy wearily brings her arm toward Spike's mouth.

"If you take too much, you're staked. If you lick my arm or any of that icky stuff? You're staked. If ... if ... anything! You're staked, got it?"

She was serious. I couldn't believe she was going to let me drink from her. I nodded warily, still unsure if there was some hidden catch or trap about to be sprung on me.

Buffy comes to sit beside me and I look up at her, if my heart could beat it would be clamoring in my chest right now. Running riot along with the fevered thoughts in my mind.

"Wes, get my stake and hold it up, just in case." I grinned at that, like I was in any condition to cause any real harm. Not like this anyhow. Maybe later though, when I was strong again ( ... )

"T-there is smoke over there. And from the way it's going straight up and the color of i....err. Well, the saying does go 'where there's smoke there's fire. And I do believe that usually means...civilisation."

I nodded to watcher boy, seemed logical to me too. But who knew what sort of civilisation it'd be when we got over there. Could be a bunch of cannibals, or blood sacrificers or some such. My stomach growled involuntarily at the thought.

"Yay, Spike is hungry. Hmm, who cares."

It was the type of response I'd come to expect from Buffy. Never let her guard down around me, always had to be telling me I was trash, I was nothing. But this little birdy had a secret, and it was a killer. Instead of bristling at her words, I shrugged and let a half smile play on my lips. Let her wonder why her jibes didn't have as much power over me as they'd had before.

I watched as Buffy and the Wes began to climb down to the ground.

"You guys coming?" I was about to follow when I noticed the fire was still smouldering ( ... )

I must say, climbing this tree is getting more and more easier everytime I do it. Though, going up is far more difficult then going down. Even if I do fall the last few inches. Damn. Any day I'll get it right now though. Any day I'll be... Oh wait, we're leaving the bloody tree, no use for me to get it right ( ... )
