The monotonous rush of running water and the click-clack of her metal heels against the concrete were the only noises that filled the tunnel, but that didn’t stop Selina Kyle from being hyperaware of her surroundings. The sewers were full of thugs, and it would take a bit more effort to fight them off than her usual scuffles with drunken idiots did. Rumor had it that most of these men were trained assassins, and the thought left a bitter taste in Selina’s mouth as she remembered her last run-in with an assassin. But assassins were nothing compared to zealots. Killers for hire versus true believers? That was no contest. And since these assholes were hell-bent on destroying the entire city, she was pretty sure they were zealots of the worst kind ( ... )
