Light Novels?

(Though in all honesty, I wouldn't consider them light...)

Being the lazy bum that I am, I only discovered a few days ago that the series has come to a conclusion after a remarkable twelve years(Bravo, Gatou-sensei, bravo ( Read more... )

LOL well I think I discovered FMP! nine years after it came into existance, and it's now one of my favorite anime/manga/light novel series, so yeah, yay for discovering older series ;-)
As far as the first few novels go, I don't think novels 1-3 have ever had a complete fan translation done since an English translation has been published. Unfortunately it's out of print and therefore hard to find, I have copies of the official English release in volumes 1-4 and most of it is covered in the anime so while it is great being able to read it too, in terms of storyline you have not missed out.
Volumes 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 can be found here, and for the remainder of the series:
* shutazen: some rough translations of Come Make My Day/Nick of Time
* xmistervx: final novel + some shorts
Personally I found the rough translations difficult to read, I dragged myself through them, and wish I hadn't bothered as I would have been better off reading a summary of the novels lacking a decent translation. I had no problems reading Boku-Tachi's translations, and xmistervx final ( ... )

Thanks for the response. :)

It really seems to me that bits and pieces are scattered across the internet...

And sadly, the files are dead for Burning One Man Force and Come Make My Day in that first link. :\ ...Same for a good portion of Approaching Nick of Time.

I've been picking through what's offered here, but as expected, things get incredibly confusing after the Boku-Tachi translations. Like I said, bits and pieces. Lots of dead ends.

xmistervx really does have a lot of the ending stuff and side stories, like you said. And I've been to shutazen before, but I only ever seem to find snippets (which feels like teasing, in a way T_T).

I wonder, then, for the missing pieces in between (BOMF, CMMD, ANOT), if there are reliable in-depth summaries out there somewhere. The only thing I don't like about summaries is that I miss out on details. If I have better luck with those, though...hmm.

Sorry about the down links, I didn't realize they were no longer active, check your LJ inbox, I have sent you a PM with some links that work for BOMF, CMMD, ANOT.
For summaries, I recommend checking animesuki's NOVEL SUMMARY INDEX (just scroll down a bit and you'll see it).
I hope that helps, the light novels are fantastic, if we are lucky one day another publisher will pick up the novels for release or we get some less confusing fan translations ;-)

Ok, so this thread is old so you might not even be interested anymore... Someone has edited/cleaned up the rough translations by shutazen and fixed a few small things with the boku-tachi translations and made a good, complete collection of the novels. I can't remember where I downloaded them from, but I'd be happy to send you copies if you want?

OMG I would love that, thank you!

I've been slow in my catching up with the series, so I've only just started looking at Approaching Nick of Time. And the rough way it's translated... Well, I didn't want to complain, since it was the only thing out there, but...the experience just isn't the same.

(You have no idea how excited I was to see your comment.)

When you have time, you can send them to celestialgem87@gmail.com. You are awesome. Thank you SOOO much!!
