To be Courageous

We had a movie night at our church for the film Courageous. If you haven't heard about it, it's about a group of cops who dedicate themselves to being better fathers. I try to build on what I valued in my relationship with my Dad and try to go one from there. Don't know if I am making a difference or not, but I think just being there when you're needed and showing that they matter is a big one. A lot of kid's don't even have that in their life.

I guess the person we should ask is our wives and our kids what they think of our parenting as Dad's.

Good luck with that journey. Unfortunately we may never know how successful we were until we are long gone from this world.

I've been thinking a lot about what you wrote here, Andy. That's a really good start. I like the idea of asking our wives what they think of our parenting. Another thing from the movie was that the group of dads worked to keep each other accountable as husbands and fathers. I think that's really neat. It's powerful to have someone in your life who is honest enough to tell you when you are falling short. Most people just say that you are doing fine because they don't want to be too involved.
