Missing LJ

I'm always lamenting the fact that the LJ community seems to have dried up a bit since I first started posting here (about 8 years ago, I think?), and then I chide myself because I am the worst of the bunch!  I posted maybe 10 times in 2013, and most of that was just links to my other blog or my Etsy shop.  How awful of me ( Read more... )

The FB phone app is very user friendly, the LJ app is a lot annoying. Im trying my best to post here because this is where the costume community really grew its roots.

Your inspiration images for your dress are so beautiful can't wait to see the finished costume. Second from the top is especially lovely.

I'm still pretty active here. You won't catch me dead on FB, ever. I know plenty of people roll their eyes at that but I've read the security blogs and I know exactly what FB really is. So, I'm staying over here with the Russians or in Silicon Valley with Google for now. :-)

BTW, use masking tape on the organza rather than pins. You can yank the tape off after you've sewn the pieces together.

I cross post the full content of my blog posts here, to keep up the posting. I feel like my blog is for non LJ people. Unfortunately I do not feel comfortable with Facebook given my work.

Enjoy the CVD ball! I remember when you bought that fabric!

Organza is the devil's own fabric. It's like the demon twin of chiffon. If anyone can conquer it, it's going to be you, but I don't envy you. I absolutely cannot wait to see the final product. Your inspiration images are some of my favorites.

I've sewn with organza! I made bias puffings for a Regency evening dress several years ago. Bias organza is incredible - you can cut it 4" wide and in the blink of an eye it will stretch to 1" wide AND BACK. Impossible to be accurate with it. But it makes indestructible puffs. ;)
