The prevalence of this kind of stuff is the reason that I've never really engaged properly with HP fandom, I think; I mean, I've followed links from people I trust and read some excellent fic, but even then I've sometimes stumbled across things that make me boggle and want to wash my hands. (And I don't mean squidfic - I mean romances between Snape and Harry, while Harry is a child at school, with Dumbledore nodding approvingly when one of his teachers beds one of the kids
