This was such a gripping story, from beginning to end. There was such anguish for Abby, but from that we saw Connor's fierce and unwaivering love for her as well as Abby's strength and how it's just grown as the years have passed.

Ellie is lovely, just like her mum. I can picture her perfectly, a young copy of Abby.

The three of them bonding was really beautiful to see unfold, especially Abby finally making it clear that she's reclaimed her daughter.

Loved it!

Oh, well thank you. I'm glad you really liked it. I did try to put the angst, emotion and whump in there. But, it had to be told in past tense, so I'm glad that it worked. I was a bit unsure about that. I'm glad it all came through.

I'm quite fond of Ellie. She's a beautiful girl, and a fighter, just like her mum. :-D

Thank you. I really went for the tear jerker element there. Glad you approve. I'm quite proud of how this one turned out.

:-D In your words, "Ta very much". *Tips hat*

*sniffs* Beautiful story. Poor Abby and poor Ellie but at least they've found each other and all is well - a perfect family (and Connor has someone to geek out with hehehe)

Awww. Thanks. I didn't want it to be another negative family experience for Abby, at least not in the long lost relative part. That's where Ellie came from. She's a good girl who is suffering too. She just needs a family. I'm a sucker for adoption stories all around. I wanna adopt myself, so it just seemed to work in this story. And yes, Connor is awesome. Unlike her mother, Ellie had no trouble figuring that out. :-)

Wow what a bombshell to be dropped with - for all of them. Abby having to step up and be a mum, Connor finding out about Abby's troubled past, and poor little Ellie losing her parents. Good to see that all was well in the end and they all became a happy - if slightly unconventional - family. Awww!

Yes, it is quite a bombshell, and Abby probably couldn't have done this without Connor. She's strong and capable, but he's her rock, the only ones who's always there for her. Abby and Connor don't really do conventional anyway, and apparently neither does Ellie. :-D

That was a lovely story :)

I loved the way Ellie bonded with Connor over the comics.

Thank you so much. The Ellie and Connor dynamic was fun. Plus, I think it means that deep down Abby has a little geek in her also. I mean, she was sitting in a cage with two lizards attempting to coax them into matingthe firsttime we see her. :-P.

I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for commenting.

Wow, awesome way to use the prompt! This was such a compelling story, and I loved it! It was just beautiful from beginning to end, and if everyone that reads this doesn't want their very own Connor, then they are insane. Ah, poor Abby. That would be a hell of a burden. I actually have a half-sister that my mom gave up for adoption. She's on my Facebook but we've never met. I found out about 10 years ago.

Anyways, lovely birthday fic and thanks so much! I loved it!

Yay!!!! \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/

I wasso hoping you would like where I took the prompt. I was a little nervous about it, but I really loved how it turned out. I was just waiting for your approval. :-D

Wow. That must have been an interesting conversation. Did she just drop it like a bomb one day at dinner? I don't think people realize how closely adoption touches most of us. I really REALLY want to adopt. It's such a beautiful thing to me. It mustbeso hard to give up a child. I'm glad there are women out there who are courageous enough to do that instead of just getting rid of it. It's hard to adopt, so I really wish there where more moms willing to do it.

*hugs* I'm glad you liked it and thanks for sharing about your mom.

Actually, my half-sister found my mom, and afterwards Mom called me and said she had something to tell me. I was fine with it, but my older sister, not so much. I'd always wondered why my mom was allowed to move in with my aunt the next town over her senior year. Now I know, lol.

Wow. That's a lot to hold onto for so long a time. Man. How much older than you is she?
