Will?

[ She pushed herself up, or at least tried to; she was moving quicker than her body wanted to allow. She hissed as the pain pushed up through her, trying to think as she pushed herself up slower this time ( Read more... )

Are you all right?

[Concern threads through Charles' voice, despite how little he knew this woman. He recognized the sound of her voice, as well as the pain behind it.]

You're injured. Do you need medical attention?

I'm all right. Just a little surprised, that's all.

[ And she is all right - for the most part anyway. Her own medical assessment will do for her ] No, I'll be fine.

"Doctor Magnus?" Long's voice asks over the tablet, clearly concerned. A beat, then he is apparently concerned enough he'll go for the first name.

"Helen? Are you quite alright?"

Helen turned from the window, a small wince emitting from her as she moved. She could hear the concern in his voice and felt a little bad for causing worry. But as for answering his question? She didn't know the answer to that herself. Physically, barring bruising and her ribs, she was fine. Emotionally also, but waking up with over a century of new information? Or rather wondering how that fit in with everything that had happened in Taxon - and a lot had happened - that was the troubling part.

"I am." She was trying now to keep the pain from her voice as much as possible, which was easier when she didn't move. Or breathe. "I apologise for any worry that I caused, I wasn't aware that the tablet was on."

"Forgive me for saying so, but you do not sound alright, madam.

"I dislike the tablets' habits of broadcasting our private moments of distress as little as anybody, but all the same... May I be of any assistance?"

Helen ignored the first part of his reply. She would be all right - her injuries would heal.

"I wouldn't exactly call it distress." Not this time, anyway, not like last time. "Confusion, perhaps." She may have to ask Martha about this; it sounded similar to something that she'd described once before.

Unless Mayland could help her first. "Do you know anything of the phenomenons that occur here? Particularly those regarding memories?" It was hard to describe so if he gained anything from that he was doing well.

[ okay, that didn't look good. or, rather, sound good. ]

Hey, is something wrong? You look- [ okay the hand to the ribs isn't such a good thing, but what can she really do? ]

[ In fact it was neither. She was turning now from the window, now that she'd gotten confirmation of what she was looking for ]

It's fine.

[ It wasn't but she was dealing, and hating that the tablet had published this as well as everything else ]

Helen? [ good lord, hadn't this woman been through enough already? or rather, hadn't taxon put everyone through enough already? jenna was getting very tired of it. ]

Please tell me that was a nightmare and not something else.

Unfortunately I cannot.

[ Do you usually wake up from nightmares in pain, Jenna? This kind, anyway. She was making her way back across the room, although not as successfully as she would have liked, given that she had to reach out to rest her hand on a bed post, stopping briefly ]

Do you need anything? Company, someone to get something?

[ in taxon? she wouldn't be surprised. ]

[ Helen was silent for a moment, making certain that she was balanced enough to walk the short distance around her bed as well as hardening herself to the pain. Broken ribs - it had been quite a while ]

No, I- [ She stepped slowly again. What even did she want? She needed to work out what had happened first ] I have a few things that I need to sort out.
