Elena's tablet switches itself on to show her sitting in the window seat in her bedroom - her bedroom, in the house she grew up in. Jenna brought it with her when she arrived in Taxon, and part of her is happy to have it back. She's missed Jenna and their home. But she also misses staying in the boarding house, sharing Stefan's bed and room with ( Read more... )

Quinn is standing in the walk-in closet of her apartment, organizing her cloths. There aren't much (yet), but she wants to have at least some form of organization going on. Her tablet is sitting on the vanity, propped up against the mirror to give her a good view of it in case someone messaged her.

She was doing whatever she could to not think about home. She missed actually being a part of glee club. She missed Mr. Schue, and Finn and Puck, sheeven missed Coach Sylvester - even Rachel (okay, only a very teeny minisucal amount). At least she had Kurt here now, and a job.

She was adjusting a red sweater on a hanger, when the tablet flickered and Elena's image appeared. She moves closer to the screen and can't help but smile slightly.

"I know how you feel," Quinn replies, remembering when the tablet had turned on during a singing session she had in the choir room. "Sometimes I think these things are out to get us."

"Between the glitches and zombie attacks, I'm pretty convinced of it at this point," Elena replies, giving the tablet another disgusted look before smiling at Quinn. "How's the job going?"

"Not bad," Quinn replies, setting down the sweater on the vanity, to give her full attention to the screen. "It's a lot more work than I expected, but I like it."

It's the perfect distraction though, so for that Quinn won't complain. Besides from personal assistant, one could only go up right? At least Quinn promised herself she would. She couldn't believe she was already thinking of her future in this place.

"How long have you been here?"

"Since October," Elena answers, shaking her head a little when she realizes how long it's really been. "God, over half a year by now."

She wonders if she should start looking for a job, too. Maybe distractions would help. But then she'd be spending all her time worrying about what's happening and what could and probably will happen, spend all her time at the job thinking about it, get fired, and end up back at square one.

"That's not even half as long as some of the others, though."

Working theory: the hamsters are jerks. I swear to god one time one of the creepy blank people turned mine on for me.

Jenna is downstairs at the moment, leaning her back against the kitchen sink with a glass of wine in her hand. She's been thinking about a lot of things lately, mostly the whole vampire thing, and wondering how this is going to shape her life now. Obviously, it's going to mean something to her, but with the cover story going...

She can't believe she's thinking this, but she may have to talk to Damon later on.

Her tablet's in a pocket right now and for the most part, Jenna's settling into life in Taxon. It's weird, to be sure, but this is... what she's got. Even though Jeremy and Ric aren't here, Elena is, and Jenna's first priority is Elena's safety.

Her niece's voice snaps Jenna out of her thoughts and she turns her head toward the front of the house. "I'm in the kitchen, Elena," she calls in response, glancing at her glass before taking another sip. She hasn't been drowning in the stuff since she found out, but neither has she been completely dry. Still, Elena must know what she's thrown on her aunt. She'll understand.

Elena comes into the kitchen a few seconds later, offering Jenna a somewhat weak smile as she appears. The glass of wine is noted, but not commented on, because she does understand. She knows that everything she's learned is a lot to cope with, a lot to process. It took her a while, too. She comes closer, pulling something out of her pocket before she takes a seat at the island.

"I've got something for you," she says, looking at her as she sets the object - the necklace she's taken to wearing up until recently - on the counter. "For you to wear as extra protection. It's kind of a loaner until I can get you something more permanent, but I wanted you to have it in the meantime."

Once Elena appears, Jenna opts for a more... conservative and responsible approach. She sets the glass on the island, off to the side and away from the space between them as she moves the two or so steps closer so she can lean on the island now instead of the sink.

"Protection?" she asks, looking down at the necklace. It's a gorgeous piece of jewelry, to be sure, and she wonders vaguely where Elena got it. "It's lovely."

She's still trying to get used to this whole... vampire... mindcontrol crazy stuff, so she reaches for the necklace very hesitantly. In a way, she's asking for permission. Jenna feels very much that she's an outsider in Elena's world now and there's not much she knows how to do anymore. This is something she very much does not like. However, if allowed, she'll at least pick up the necklace to look at it closer.

She nods. "It's filled with vervain, a special kind of herb. It's harmful to vampires and keeps them from being able to control you." There's a pause, and Elena hesitates for a long moment before continuing with: "You've already got something containing it, actually. But I wanted to give it to you in case that started to wear off."

In case Katherine decides to go after you goes unsaid, but it's something that's been on her mind since Jenna arrived.

"It was a Christmas present," she says, offering where she got it. "From Damon. But I want you to be safe, and I already had one. I'll see if he or Stefan can make one specially for you, though."

"I'm pretty sure everything about Taxon is the hamsters playing tricks on us."

And Willow does not look amused by this at all.

"I could try to mess with the tablets, but somehow I don't quite think it'd work."

Still, this is giving her ideas... maybe she'll do it.

"I don't see how it could hurt," Elena replies. "These things seem to be pretty indestructible."

"Worst that happens is I piss the hamsters off again." Not like this hasn't happened before. Story of her life here, really. And again... not like she cares. She hates them anyway. "Are you doing okay, though?" Concerned friend is concerned.

"Again?" Elena asks, frowning in confusion. "What happened before, exactly?" She may have heard about what went on, but she doesn't know all of the details.

To the second question, she sighs, running a hand through her hair and remaining quiet for a long moment before she answers. "I'm coping. I think that's the best word for it. What about you?" Because Willow doesn't seem too happy, either. Elena remembers hearing about her girlfriend having been sent back home, but again, she doesn't know all of the details.

"Don't know the why, but I keep mine shut up in a drawer or under heavy objects when I don't want it on. Seems to work alright."

That makes sense, but I've been keeping mine on me lately. [ for reasons she won't reveal to a stranger, because they are complicated and painful. ] I guess beggars can't be choosers.

"Beggars, or prisoners. I figure they can watch us as much as they want, it's their big damn cage. But doesn't mean I want everyone else here watching me shave."

I wouldn't want to broadcast that, either.
