Case #5 [Visual | Location: Taxon Library]

Jan 29, 2011 13:20

Kate propped the tablet up on the counter and flipped it on, waiting for the red light to come on before she backed up to speak. Behind her can be seen a long conference table in a windowed room, and through the window, what is obviously a library ( Read more... )

Elisa doesn't arrive until after sunset, but she's more than happy to make the trek out. Getting back to the swing of things, protecting people one way or another, it feels like a good opportunity.

"Kate, right?" she asks, when she's inside. "Got the message. Glad to hear it."

It took a moment for Spencer to realize what he was looking at, and once he did, he willed himself not to stare. Kate had told him about someone here in law enforcement who was half-women half-gargoyle. Spencer knew he shouldn't be disturbed at this point - this was Taxon, after all - but he still couldn't help his discomfort.

"Y-You're a cop.. right?"

"Ex, technically," Elisa admitted. "I used to be a detective with the NYPD. It's... a long story."

Spencer could only imagine.

"You're... from Earth then?"

Tactful he's not.

Spencer poured himself some coffee and was sure to add 4 packets of sugar to it. Taxon coffee tended to be more like motor oil.

While he had offered up the room in the library, Kate was the one running this show. He had taken a seat a few down from where she was, determined to let this meeting remain professional. Spencer stirred his coffee with a plastic straw, then gazed up at her.

"Do you have any specific agenda for this meeting?"

Jason is still very new to Taxon, but he knows a gathering when he hears about one. In fact, prior to his arrival anything mentioning police had been like a beacon for him. There was no reason for that to stop now.

After helping himself to a sprinkled doughnut, Jason heard the question from the only other male who was currently occupying the room. He stood next to him, not bothering to sit down and leaned against the table. "Hold your horses, bud. You gotta figure out who you've got before runnin' down the bad guys." He takes a bite of the doughnut, giving Reid a meaningful raise of the eyebrows. He doesn't notice the cluster of sprinkles that falls onto his jeans and the floor below.

Kate moved to rest her arm on the back of Reid's chair and leaned on it.

"We've got a pretty good idea who we've got, and we're not even sure if there are bad guys."

She looked him over and raised her brows.

"And you are?"

Jason looks confused at this revelation. "If we don't got bad guys, then why are we havin' a meeting?"

When Kate asks the question, Jason stands up straight and offers her his free hand in greeting. "Jason Stackhouse, ma'am. Bon Temps, Louisiana police force."

Within all this weirdy sci fi bollocks, Gene never could resist the call of the law, even if he only liked his version of the law. Still, it was better than sitting around lamenting his lack of freedom in this place.

Though he was a bit dubious, he turned up anyway, if it was full of useless tosser, he still got doughnuts. "Heard your message on that device-thingy, lookin' for coppers?"

Kate glanced up. Another unfamiliar face. She needed to get out more. She nodded as she approached, hand outstretched.

"We are. Detective Kate Beckett. You are?"

"DCI Gene Hunt of the Greater Manchester Police," he introduced, taking the hand with a small look of disbelief. "I'm sorry, have I gone barmy or did you just say detective? You?"

Kate used every inch of her 4in stiletto height to stand up completely straight, looking down on his slightly.

"That's what my badge says. Shall I show you?"

Paul slipped the tablet back into his pocket as he found the door and half-knocked, half-opened it. He knew at least a few of the faces on the other side, and gave those already in the room a nod as he stepped the rest of the way in.

"I see there's still coffee left, so I'm not too late," Paul says easily enough, and moves to one of the chairs. "Paul Smecker, to those I haven't met."
