She's got to do it. If she's not worth anything else, this can make up for it all, right? That genetiwhatsit thing, it would kill all of the Daleks, yes, but everyone else would be okay. It would be a justified sacrifice, wouldn't it? Self-defense, to help all those frightened people. All she can think about are little babies, and the children who ( Read more... )

As soon as she hears that voice, Rose switches her tablet to visual and heads toward the Sanctuary.

"Donna? S'all right. Doctor is here. You're in a place called Taxon and m'on my way to come get you."

"What d'you mean a place called Taxon? We were just on the Daleks great stupid ship! What the hell is Taxon?"

At least Rose is somewhat expecting it? She has met Donna a few times.

She doesn't bother to boggle at the mention of Daleks and their ship. She remembers the Daleks but not the ship so Donna is after her but the same crisis. Maybe.

"It's...a sealed pocket dimension. Roach motel. They go in but the don't come out."

Rose's answer placates Donna for a moment, until she actually thinks about it. "Don't go talking to me like you're him, now! Use plain English, if don't mind, I was just-- we were--!" And more huffing.

The man who appears is vintage noir all the way, and sounds quite amused. "Doctor's quite popular these days. Seems like every third person turning up asks for him first." He studies the woman, interested in a bemused sort of way.

Oh, hello suave-sounding stranger. Where Donna would normally fix her hair and bat her lashes, she just scowls and huffs. "Oi, and what's that supposed to mean? Who are you, anyway?"

"I'm called Sam Spade. And what it means is that of the last three people to turn up, two of you have been looking for the Doctor. The guy gets around, I'll give him that." He takes a drag on his cigarette. "And what's your name, sweetheart?"

"What. Are you talking about?" Donna barks it out, gaining momentum as she goes. One would think that after all that yelling, she might be tired. "And I'm not your sweetheart, so you can go on and stuff it, Sam Spade!"

He doesn't answer the machine when he hears Donna's voice. He just stares at it, stares at the woman who recognizes him and knows who she is. The woman he killed and is still, in so many ways, grieving for.

And she's alive. Alive and right there.

He curls up in the corner of the room designated as his and just watches her interact with other people. She's right there. After a while, he presses his knees against his eyes until he sees sparks.

It's not fair. It's not fair for Taxon to give him these people he cares about when he knows he has to leave them. And Donna has to die, and Rose has to go off with the man who is the Doctor but isn't, and Fitz has to---

He doesn't reply to Donna's message, but he continues to watch.

[ooc: Continued from above]

Rose leads Donna through the streets of Taxon to the little house she's been sharing with the Doctor. Yes that is a settee sitting outside on the sidewalk. She unlocks the house with a press of her finger to the lock and steps inside, tugging Donna after her.

"Doctor? Hello?"

She pokes her head in the kitchen and the living room then heads up the stairs where the two bedrooms are.

The Doctor stares at his door. He can hear Rose enter, but he's locked the door. He wants to be alone right now. Alone with his pain.

Donna follows behind, a meek moment of very few of their kind. Her anxiety is worsened by the fact that only moments ago she was facing the end of existence entirely.

Now, she wasn't sure she wouldn't rather go back to that.

The visual currently shows a kitchen with no activity in it. Well, there's a little bit of smoke for a moment, but it's gone just as quick as it was there. The Master is positively giddy, keeping out of view while he gets control of his amusement. Oh, another one! Another one calling for her precious Doctor! This is brilliant.

Finally, the Master steps in front of the visual, perfectly calm. "It's alright now, miss. I'm sure your cavalry is on its way. You really must relax; yelling will get you nowhere." He gazes beyond the visual, thoughtful, and still distracted, he asks, "May I have your name? It's so much easier to be of help that way."

Help. Right. He simply wants something to add to a certain mental list he has.

Donna scowls for a moment. "Oi, I'll yell all I like thank you, and I've gotten some answers from it, haven't I?"

But, then again, he's an attractive man in a suit. She's really quire hopeless at that. "Donna Noble, though I suppose it's not fair to give when I'm not getting, is it?"

Ah, good. He's gotten what he wanted out of her. A name, such a simple, but useful tool. "Fine, continue yelling then if it helps you." He doesn't particular care now, except that she has quite the irritating voice - maybe that's a new qualification for becoming a companion to the Doctor? "You can just call me Harry," he says after a moment and an eye roll.

She's not the brightest crayon in the box, so Donna keeps scowling and adds an impatient huff. People just respond as if this is no big deal and this Harry expects her to be calm and collected? Boy, some men had nerve.

"Well, I'm sorry if it's a little disorienting to just pop in and be met with a blipping mobile and people telling me how to react to it all!"
