[location: royal chambers] detente

Since Morgana's (triumphant?) return to the Royal Chambers of Camelot, Arthur has made valiant attempts at ignoring her, after their exceedingly mature bickering match. Sadly, in this context, 'valiant' more or less translates as 'pitiful'. He's well aware that she's by no means up to her usual levels of strength, no matter how she might endeavour ( Read more... )

Morgana's (triumphant) return has resulted in a ridiculous standoff. She's refused to ask assistance with anything, or admit that she'd like his company.

This, of course, has led to accidentally finding him at odd times of day. Not that Morgana would imply that Arthur, at times, can be a creature of habit, and easy enough to locate, even in a building of this size. It has also led to a variety of monosyllabic conversations, if they speak at all.

Trying to spend a portion of her day doing something useful, her chambers are fairly tidy. Unfortunately, this has worn her out.

All she did was lie down for a moment. She's not really asleep, and that murmur that might've been heard outside the door, is not at all a semi-conscious almost whine at being awakened.

Well, this is awkward. Or at least it is on Arthur's side of things - he'd been expecting a frosty 'you may enter' or something to that effect, and he hadn't counted on her being very obviously asleep.

"Er... I can come back later if you want?" He offers, slightly wrong-footed and not sure whether he should just flee while he still has the chance.

She was simply resting, really. Just because that rest happened to last the better part of a couple of hours, does not make the point moot.

Sitting up, Morgana puts her hand to her forehead and then smooths back her hair.

"What do you need, Arthur?" The tone of voice she's using is clearly ennui, not sleepy.

"Oh, nothing. Nothing." He calls loudly, scratching the back of his neck in a feckless sort of way, and feeling like a bit of an idiot, conversing with a door.

"I was just enquiring whether you've noticed any leaks. In your ceiling. At all."

Wow, he could have put a bit more effort into that one.

For Morgana, it's one of those cases where she just knows something is off. Over the past few days, whether it be a hair ribbon placed on a night-table (she's very organized about these things) or several items out of place within particular drawers, things are not as she would leave them within her room.

Granted, she's been under a great deal of stress, and spoke to no one, other than Arthur (and one conversation with the Doctor she wishes she hadn't had).

Why she chooses to bring it up now, she couldn't say, but she's tentative when she approaches Arthur. She would rather not go back to the silence more stony than the Royal Chambers.

"Arthur, may I ask you a question?"

[OOC: Timeline is about a week after the Doctor's trial.]

Arthur, who is currently absorbed in re-stringing his bow (someone has to take care of these mundane tasks, and he wouldn't trust an Extra to do it properly) glances up at Morgana briefly from his work, too distracted to notice her uncharacteristic timidity.

"Fire away."

To say it's rare for Morgana timid about asking Arthur anything -- defiant, angry, prodding -- yes, but timidity can rarely be found in Morgana's makeup.

Before Morgana speaks, she holds her hands up in the traditional, I'm-just-asking-now-don't-lose-your-temper gesture. "In your duties of ensuring the Royal Chambers is in good repair," because, there would be a reason for him to have done such a thing, "have you been in to inspect my chambers?"

The implication of her not being in said chambers at the time is clear.

He looks up from the bow, paying Morgana something more approximate to his full attention. Rather than losing his temper, he merely looks at her as if she's being absurd.

"Why on earth would I do that?"
