"-- smelled like baconWhen Tiberius' taller-than-Shane body disappears from in front of him, replaced by the sheen of a metallic wall, Shane's animated conversation about something apparently smelling like bacon stops right then and there. Stunned, he freezes, looking somewhat comical with both of his hands raised -- and then he turns around,

[It's after Levi's party, early in the morning. Everybody's left, the basement is a mess, and Levi's sitting in his bedroom, quietly. It'd been fun, definitely a hit, but... there was still something missing. Levi knows what it is, but he's not admitting it. He can't think about it, or it eats at him.

... So when he hears Shane's voice, he almost thinks he's just daydreaming, wishful thinking.

But then, Shane says his name. And Levi blinks at his tablet.]

... Shane?

So Shane hears Levi's voice saying his name just as the... door opens? Hesitantly, he starts to walk down the steps, then out of the room, glancing at the thing in his hand - it looks like iPod and Blackberry's lovechild. Nothing, just a map and some dots. The hell?

"Levi? What's with the giant soup can?"

[voice]

[Levi's makeup is smudged, so there's no way in hell that he's going to show his face (yet, anyway). But Shane-- Shane is here, Shane is speaking to him, it's not his imagination. The minute Levi realizes that, he's racing out of his room and down the stairs, not even caring.]

Shane. Stay there, don't move, I'm coming. Just stay. Please.

[He doesn't even bother with the trams, just runs, as fast and hard as he can, emotions running wild and thoughts going in every direction. The only thought in his head is getting there, before Shane vanishes.]

Freaked out? A little bit. But Shane stays, waits, noticing the sudden disappearance of the door behind him - what the hell - and taking the time to look over the phone... thing. As well as the metal band on his wrist that totally was not there before. After a few minutes of picking at it, he gives up.

But he keeps his cool. Levi can probably explain it - and maybe he can explain why he sounds so upset while he's at it. After all, he only saw him about twenty minutes ago... didn't he?

"You know? Now I'm in the mood to have some good old bacon."

Sheppard turned his attention to the tablet at the sight of the new holographic image. Another new arrival. Well, they were trickling in more and more. That wasn't a good sign.

Shane jumped at the sudden unfamiliar voice, hissing slightly out of reflex - but not enough to seem overly... well, inhuman. He looked down at the tablet, then sobered. Oh. This seemed harmless enough for now.

Still, Shane was cautious.

"Who's there?"

"Name is Sheppard, John. Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Air Force. And, welcome to Taxon." He replied calmly with a smile.

Okay, hold the phone. "Air Force? -- Taxon?" Shane stared at the image, completely thrown. "Okay, wait -- what? Is this a government thing? Did I do something?" He'd heard the rumours about vampires being taken and experimented on. Oh shit.

Godric's tablet is on, but he's paying little attention until he hears the name 'Levi'. He stops what he's doing and picks up the tablet, taking in the image the little holograph is projecting.

"Shane, I take it?" His voice is gentle. He doesn't want to startle him.

Shane jumps a little at the sound of his name, looking down at the phone... thing. The person on the screen is unfamiliar, but... doesn't appear to be threatening. Regardless, Shane is cautious as he walks towards the door, eyes on the tablet.

"Uhh... maybe?"

He'll take that as a yes. Godric's first impression of Shane is that he's very good-looking, and that he has a certain air about him. Innocence, or humanity, an open quality that most vampires lack. Godric thinks he has some idea already why Levi loves Shane.

"Levi has spoken of you. All good things, of course." He smiles, welcoming.

That gets Shane's attention. He goes through the door, then glances back down at Godric's image. He can almost tell that he's a vampire, and an old one, too. Instant respect.

"Wait, you know Levi? Where is he? ... Where are we?"

Well, as far as initial Taxon observations go that was an interesting one. Glitch tilted his head in consideration.

"As far as we can tell height has nothing to do with it. Everyone just gets plucked all willy nilly."

Okay. Shane thinks he's starting to get the hang of this. He squints a little at the person on the screen.

"Worth a shot, right...?" Shane scratches his head, looking around the hallway. "So who's the one doing the picking?"

"Hey, I won't discourage any theories," Glitch assured him with a smile, finally focused on the tablet. "And, ah, we don't know. It-it's kinda annoying. I'm Glitch, by the way, welcome to Taxon."

Somebody had to be a friendly face for the newbies, right?

"That's your name?" Shane grins a little, but not in any mocking sort of way. He thinks it's kind of cool. "I'm Shane. And, uh... thanks."
