001. [HOLO - ARRIVAL]

Dec 23, 2009 22:48

"If you had just turned left when I told you, this never would have --" Elle stopped short, eyes opening mid-rant at Sylar to find that she was no longer sitting in the car, but on a raised platform that she'd never seen before. Well, that was weird. Trying to avoid becoming hysteric, she climbed to her feet, walking around, just to the edge of ( Read more... )

"Why are you yelling at me?" Bug-eyed situated behind a part of oversized glasses appeared on the screen of the tablet, Gabriel practically pressing his face up against the screen as he examined it to try and figure out exactly how it was projecting the flickering hologram hovering over top of the screen that was shouting his name. Granted, he understood perfectly that there was more than one person in this world named Gabriel, but he hadn't found any other people named Gabriel here.

But since she'd just arrived, he could always be mistaken.

"Or are you yelling at someone else? It's still not nice to yell," The face on the screen tipped backwards, staring up at the projection with wide-eyed wonder before frowning softly as something occurred to him. "You're locked somewhere? Do you need help? I can go get Peter!"

Jumping slightly when the face appeared on the tablet, Elle shrunk back for a moment, then scrutinized the image and leaned in closer, poking the screen beside where his face was. Under her breath, she muttered something akin to "That's so weird," before she regained her composure and just sighed in irritation. Some kids needed babysitters.

"Not you, kid." Though, the resemblance was undeniably there, she shrugged it off. It was pretty coincidental, thinking that there was another Peter and Gabriel "Is Peter your dad or something? Does he know you're using ..." She trailed off, realizing she didn't really know exactly what this thing was. "Whatever this is?"

Gabriel's face scrunched up in indignation at the question, a solid pronouncement of, "This is mine," leaving his lips before the scowl that had settled on his features relaxed as the shaking of his head. She had asked a legitimate question, at least, so there was no reason that he couldn't answer it. Still, the idea that Peter was his dad was... Well, it would have been better than someone that left him like that.

"Nuh-uh. Peter and Mister Nathan and Claire and Miss Helen have all been taking care of me since I got here. I can go get one of them, if you need help. You're not hurt, right? You don't look hurt."

Suddenly, Elle looks very interested. Peter and Nathan and someone -- who she could only guess was Pom Pom based on the rest of the Petrelli family names -- taking care of a little boy named Gabriel? That was too weird. Her brow scrunched and she buckled -- guess she was going to have to get her information from this kid after all.

"I'm not hurt. But, I'd really appreciate it if you could get P--" She snapped her mouth shut, realizing that it would probably be suspicious to call her Pom Pom like she knew Claire already. "Yeaaaaaah. Yeah, could you get one of them? I don't really know where I ... am."

If this is about the Gabriel I think it is, he's here, but I'm pretty sure he's a little kid at the moment.

Big eyebrows, stupid hair? He's definitely not a little kid -- he's actually pretty old. [sigh, then in a patronizing voice:] I guess he's probably calling himself Sylar.

Be glad you're getting this warning now: this place does weird things to you. He is a little kid, at least for the time being.

I've only talked to the guy once, but I've heard him referred to by both names.

And "this place" is ... what exactly? Last I checked, I was in Costa Verde.

The Cuckoos watched her antics interestedly, or as interestedly as they could. It seemed as if she was rather clumsy, dropping the tablet all over the place. Their eyes glowed slightly brighter at seeing her use her powers, and they tilted their heads curiously. After a few moments of the arrival throwing herself and the device around, they finally decided to speak up.

"That won't do you any good, you know," they said together calmly. "If you hold onto the tablet, the doors just open. Easy as one, two, three." The little clones gave identical empty smiles at the joke, and waited to see what this one would do next.

{No screaming necessary with a handy dandy FAQ entry! :D}

Her eyes flickered back to the tablet as someone else came up on it -- more helpful than the kid version of Gabriel she'd talked to earlier, obviously. The more she did this, the better she got at it.

"It just opens?" She looked up from the tablet at the door, moving to open it and, sure enough, it wasn't locked that time. Peeking her head out, she looked back down at the tablet. "How'd you figure that one out?" It took her that long to notice the creepiness of seeing multiples of the same face staring back at her. "Is that your ability or something? Replicating?"

"Mmmhmm," they hummed, nodding their heads in perfect sync as they watched her head out. At least she was figuring this all out rather easily. But the smiles turned sardonic at the assumption of their gifts.

"No," they replied simply, eyes still that eerie blue-white.

Phoebe thought.

Celeste glanced at her sister.

Mindee rolled her eyes at Celeste.

Celeste shrugged.

"Nothing like that," they said, finally directing their attention back to the screen.

The look on Elle's face made it clear that she realized she was missing something, but she just shrugged it off as one of those knowing glances between people who knew each other particularly well. Instead, she suggested another option.

"Whatever you say, Tweedle Creepy." She stepped out of the room, navigating her way to a window before she addressed them again. "So, if you can get me out of that room, how about you give me directions back to Costa Verde while you're at it?"

"Elle!" Mohinder was currently all bundled up (with the prerequisite colorful scarf, of course) and walking outside, grinning like an idiot. "I'm so glad you could make it. Has anyone explained this place to you? It's really very odd." He seemed as if he couldn't be more pleased about that.

Elle was wandering the halls of the Sanctuary by then, trying to get her bearings to some extent while simultaneously just trying to explore. It was working out pretty well so far. Her expression grew visibly excited when Mohinder's face appears on her tablet, and she stopped mid-pace because multi-tasking was hard for her in order to address him ( ... )

"Oh, I do remember hearing about Gabriel," he said with a smile. "And that is the going theory at the moment, for some reason. I'm not entirely sure where the alien idea came from, but I honestly haven't been here all that long. I'm sure the other residents must have their reasons."

He'd changed direction now, heading toward the Sanctuary. Why he hasn't been using the tram was anyone's guess. "This city is called Taxon. It's a large cave with artificial weather, and as far as I'm aware, there's no way out," he added pleasantly. "Would you like me to come by and pick you up? I could give you the full tour, and perhaps we could catch up over cider." Buddy had introduced him to cider, and it was wonderful.

There was definite effort put into her not looking too excited by the offer, but it was hard not to because he was the first normal person that she knew who she'd spoken with so far, and tormenting Mohinder had become a private hobby of hers somewhere along the way to capturing Claire.

"You want to?" She demanded excitably, wide grin spreading across her face. "Thanks, Doc! I ... don't know where I am though." Disappointment quickly replaced excitement and she chewed her lip. "That's okay, though, right? The weird girls seemed to know where I was anyway. Oooh! I could show you!" She turned the tablet to face the hallway, which was entirely unhelpful. She turned it back to face her after a moment.

"That helps, right?" Somewhere in the back of her mind she recognized that Mohinder was being much more calm and collected than she usually saw him, but she was too busy acting like a five-year-old to really consciously acknowledge it.
