Wall sharing and the edge

The neighbors who live stage left have two barky dogs. I don't mind. I like dogs. Then, a stork brought them a baby (seriously, when was she pregnant?). This new, little, pink, hairless dog cries. A lot. I don't mind. My cats sound like human babies when they whine (a lot). Plus, music or the TV can cover up barking or infant cries if it ever gets ( Read more... )

See, I wouldn't mind the piano and singing (years of listening to my sister practice, and being in practice rooms in school)-- it's the dogs and baby that would have driven me nuts.

The solution could be to get an even bigger hepa air filter.

A few weeks after buying my tiny house (less than 800 square feet) in 2003 I bought a big Hepa-Honewell unit (16 inches in diameter, 3 speeds) which solved my coughing problems and muffled the noise from the main road. I noted that they had even larger models at the store.

The wooshing noise of the filter also manages to cover the noise of the many children playing in the driveway of my Western neighbour in the summer. She runs a more or less legal stealth daycare center.
