What Is It about THIS Particular Story?

Okay, last summer and during the early part of the TV season, I caught up on The Office, the American version. It was impossible not to get immediately attached to everything about it. The dry humor; the incredible nuances (blink and you might miss something); the boss that makes you squirm it's so uncomfortable and yet has a brain and a heart ( Read more... )

Yay for Jim and Pam! Havent watched the British version but I'm sure I would love Tim/Dawn as well. Have you watched Bones? Because you would LOVE the relationships on that show. The two main characters (Brennan and Booth) are like Jack/Kate/Jim/Pam all rolled into one! You'd love it (if you don't already watch!)

I recommend the British version. I don't think it's as good, but the love story will sneak up on you and grip your heart by the end. It was just such a great scene, especially after waiting so long. And I like Dwight better than his British counterpart, but they have the same joking thing with Tim/Dawn as Jim/Pam do with Dwight, and that's always good for a laugh. Can't you just tell, though, from those pics how great it looks? :)

I haven't seen Bones. Last year, it was Grey's and The Office, so I couldn't squeeze much more in. I've heard about the constantly, though, and I'm pretty sure I would like it. Only thing... the actress in the couple is for some reason not my favorite. So that's the only thing that's made me hesitant. But I'm sure if it's well-written and the chemistry is good that I would.

I will definitely check out the british version someday. And the pics do look great!!

You would definitely like Bones. And I can tell you from personal experience you can definitely get past not liking an actress. I DESPISED Sarah Michelle Geller...big time...didn't like her in anything I saw her in and as much as I loved all of Joss Whedon's work I wasn't sure I'd be able to get into Buffy. I actually watched Angel (the spinoff) first. But I gave in and who woulda thought but I found myself drawn into the relationship between Buffy and Angel...and I started liking her (just a little, lol). But the couple worked. David Boreanaz could make a relationship with a dish towel work so I think you'll have no problems with Bones once you get into it!

And yay for Chuck icon! lol

I think I'm the only person in my flist (or oen of the few persons) who haven't watched The Office, yet. And I know I should, because I only keep reading good things about it. I should try and download, I'm sure I'd enjoy it!

Don't worry, I felt like one of the last myself. And the thing is I probably never would have started watching if it hadn't been for all the hype from my online friends. Totally worth it, though. It's brilliant.

And the British one is not bad either. Anything it lacks throughout the series is made up at the end with the scene between Tim/Dawn. But then... you've already seen what a romantic I am. ;)

My sister and brother-in-law bought me the British version by mistakes and I got through about five episodes. I absolutely loved Dawn/Tim and their pranks on Gareth, but I REALLY HATED the boss. It's a lot more "documentary" than the US version which has a lot of just wildness. But dammit, now I kinda wanna watch just to see those two kiss 'cause I'm sure that scene is lovely.

I've never seen Pride & Prejudice. *ducks* I bought Emma, the book, but I just can't seem to make myself get immersed in a book. I need to work on that.

*hugs* Job hunting is hard, I wish you much luck.

I was thinking about you as I wrote this because I remembered you saying that you'd tried to watch the British version and just couldn't get through it. To be honest, I had trouble too. David Brent is really awful. And the real problem with him is that there are NO redeeming qualities. Unlike Michael Scott. He's just an asshole.

But okay, please finish because I really want there to be someone here who can relate to a random love for Dawn/Tim and that amazing scene they get at the end. The kiss with Tim's hand on the side of her cheek is so sweet. It was just that perfect moment. The song that plays is good, and it's cool how everyone is watching because they all just know. They've been waiting for it as long as Dawn/Time have. Really, I got kind of into it at the end and as I was watching knowing there had to be a resolution coming, I got really into it. So give it a try. They're great. I now think I've got to buy the set just for the Dawn/Tim.

OMG, I can't believe you don't know the Pride and Prejudice story. It's the best love ( ... )

ljh;lfhdfsg TIM AND DAWN!!!! I was a big fan of the UK version back when it was on TV and just loved the whole Tim/Dawn relationship. I was actually such a big fan of the UK version that I was appalled at first that an American version of the show was being made and refused to watch it. But, I eventually gave it a chance and now I take back anything bad I ever said about the show. The American version of The Office is 10 times what our version is imo (although I do still love the UK one. It's just my love for the American one holds no bounds!) .

I totally agree about David Brent. He is such a wanker and there is nothing likeable about him. Where as Michael Scott is a bit of a wanker too, but there's something so loveable about him! Same with Dwight and Gareth. I love Gareth but Dwight is just more... idk... he's just more awesome. ;)

Haha! I do love that the UK version is a bit dirtier. "You're a cock! You're a cock!" rofl. I'd love to see them getting away with saying that in the American version! XD

Also, I agree with kballgetlost. You ( ... )

Okay, I KNEW if anyone was familiar with them, it'd be you. I'm so glad!

Tim/Dawn are just lovely. I think it's amazing when a couple just gets THAT SCENE, you know. The one that's just perfect for them. And then don't you love Gareth's "Be careful, she's got a fiance." LOL Yeah, they're awesome. And I loved hearing the commentary about them from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant about how really it's Tim/Dawn who are the center and the heart of the show.

Yeah, I like the American one better too. Like Dwight, he's just in a league of his own. But I also think they had more resources and production values to develop the show more. However, look at when we tried to do Coupling. It failed miserably. I love that show too. I love British comedy. I really, really do. Except between The Office and watching the BBC's Pride and Prejudice lately, the accent is seeping into my brain. I'm thinking and sometimes talking to myself in a very bad British accent. LOL ( ... )

Oh Love. Man do I feel you. I agree, I don't feel normal when it comes to how I feel about love stories. Like the other night for example, when I was watching Desmond's episode and the part at the end with him and Penny happened, I cried like a little baby. And I love them as a couple but I'm nowhere NEAR as invested emotionally in them as I am, Jack & Kate. I forget about them when it isn't a Desmond episode - yet I think about Jack & Kate literally every day. They move me. And I definitely don't feel "normal" for feeling this way. LOL. But man if I'm like that for Desmond Penny...Imagine what I'll be like when we get another one of these...

LOL I completely cried too during the Desmond/Penny stuff. And as I've told people, it's not because I'm a big Desmond/Penny shipper. I'm really not. It's just that it feels so BIG, you know, so important. Desmond/Penny are the cosmic couple though. Whether or not you feel a connection to them, the show has set them up to be a really crucial part of the mythology and fabric, much like Jack/Kate. Yeah, when I see a couple or relationship that's just that huge, it always catches my breath a little. I was telling Jen, I knew that when Sayid apologized for not being able to hold the line longer that Desmond would say, "That's enough," because that's just what I was thinking. It was enough ( ... )
