UK folks: today's TV all clashes. Help!?

Sorry to post a plea out of the blue when I've been so quiet here so long. But it's like this: we missed the first showing of 'Peter and the Wolf' and so we'd like to vid the repeat today. Except that it clashes with 'Spirited Away' (which is, admittedly, probably available commercially). nd it also clashes with 'A Wizard of Earthsea' - I adore the ( Read more... )

Was going to chime in with the same comment; I'm sure somebody in the family has Spirited Away. It is well worth a look but might lose P because the plot isn't exactly linear. I had no idea there was film of Wizard of Earthsea; I must look into that!

Earthsea is a production of Sci-Fi. Do NOT, under any circumstances, look at it if you've any love for the books at all.

If it's the recent American Wizard of Earthsea... flee, flee now. I have heard... pretty much nothing good about it and I couldn't manage to watch much before I turned it off. It just... was deeply wrong. Especially if you loved the books.

If it's a new British version, then I hope that it's better and that we get to see it. But... yeah, the only televised/movie version that I've heard of was... bad, very bad. Somewhere I think I can find the link to Ursula K LeGuin's rant about it bad.

if it's the recent SciFi channel dramatisation of "Earthsea" - forget it. NOTHING like the books.

Not even worthy in its own right.
