I'm a Georgia Voter. I voted yesterday in the Presidential Election for Bush and I voted for Isakson for the Senate. I also voted "Yes" to the Amendment to ban Same-Sex Marriage in Georgia. Lastly, I voted to allow liquor "by the drink" where I live. That was really important, too. :)

Well I took your sticker so the fucking assholes i work with would leave me alone, but that still don't seem to work. I started to go off on the election with this one lady but she just stood there and stared at me. I hate this political shit in the workplace. Most of all i hate how people use their beliefs as a crutch to make themselves "better" than everyone else.
Fuck Bush, fuck Kerry....Snoop for Prez!

haha, hardly. I believe the institution of marriage should be protected (man and woman). However, in all fairness, I DO believe that same-sex couples that are in comitted relationships should be able to share some of the same "benefits" of marriage. A lot like a situation you went through with a past bf that involved you being declined the chance to see him in the hospital. BUT, if they grant that right to same-sex couples, what would stop them from letting me see Jason in the same situation just by being his girlfriend? Complicated...

After reading this post, I was thoroughly amused by the perfect revelance of your earlier comment to my post, and just had to point that out.

Aren't I just the most clever lil' thang you ever did see?

I just can't for the life of me see how this would actually affect either of you. You are together, happy, and...?

Look, i'm against the ban more than for it but what is it about this "institution" that makes it so coveted? Why does it matter if two people just gotta get married?

because, eventually, people will use the flexibility of it all to marry their dogs or their toasters for that matter. Let's keep in mind the crazies of this country.

I seriously doubt that. Keep in mind that the crazy people are already crazy. Just because a law is not in place prohibiting the union between two people of the same sex doen not mean that people will jump off the deep end.

The same people supporting the ban support pro-gun laws. Does that mean everyone will eventually arm themselves to the teeth? i think not.

I don't think offended covers it. In a world where the divorce rate is over 50% and television is littered with reality shows about marrying millionaires, auctioning off your father & the bachelor what exactly are you protecting?

What does letting two people who love one another marry, regardless of their gender, do to harm an already shattered institution.

You know what it does?
It restores some of the institution's dignity.

I can't say more, in the future keep your small-minded self-righteousness to yourself.
I so repulsed & furious I'm outta words.

This is exactly why I do not share picks. I had someone ask me yesterday who I voted for, etc etc. I politely said that I do not share that information, because I really don't want to be flamed for expressing my voice.
It's bad enough that my I am somewhat obligated to share with my husband, but I dunno. I just think this was a loaded post...

Look, that's your opinion, and that's wonderful to me. Would it be right for me to ream you out for your beliefs and opinions? Now, who's being self righteous and small-minded? This is MY LJ and I can write whatever I want. Honestly, if the vote had gone the other way, I wouldn't be upset at all. I don't feel too stongly about all this, but it was on my ballot and I voted on what I thought was right. If you disagree with me, that's okay; however, don't criticize me for what I believe.

Your god damn right. And furthermore, knowing already that gayness is accepted across this entire group of people that actually see this LJ, i think you should redirect your attack towards the people who openly express their hatred for homosexuality. None of us have a problem with anyone being gay around here.
You are seriously overreacting.
It's like you are in the fight to leagalize pot for every known use and someone writes in their LJ that pot should be legal but for medical use only and you jump off in their shit. That may be a loose comparison but consider who you are chastizing for voicing her opinion.

This is kinda a wired way of looking at it, but it's kinda funny too:
