Augh Tuesday (hold the pancakes)

Today was an Every Which Way sort. I had a fairly good day overall, but there were some odd contrasting moments. For example: we had a group pizza lunch thing and the pizza was good, from somewhere I'd never had pizza before, and clearly won't again as I had a strong allergic reaction to it. Yes, I am allergic to cheese, but I know how much I can ( Read more... )

I cannot tell you how annoyed I get reading the forums over on the IC and it's constantly Billie this and Billie that and Billie Billie Billie. HELLO PEOPLE, THERE ARE THREE MORE AMAZING GUYS IN THE BAND!

I didn't get to talk to Aaron, although I did almost crash into him coming around a corner in the Troubadour, but my friends and I got to chat with Bill both nights and with Jason on Monday, and they were both nothing but friendly and gracious and went out of their way for us, especially Bill. He is an amazing person and it makes me really sad that everyone is so Billie crazy that they ignore these other guys completely.

Hmmmm.....this is an interesting debate. I may perhaps be guilty of being one of the “all Billie Joe all the time” people right now, I don’t know. I do know that I really really like PHGP. I also know that I really really love Green Day, and would gladly give up all my PHGP CD’s for a new GD album.

On my iPod, every GD and PHGP song is on permanent rotation. Other stuff comes and goes. Green Day is forever. I also own every PHGP record, and I think they are a great band. Do I like them just because Billie is in the band? No. I think they stand as a great punk band on their own. However, I’ll be honest - if Billie wasn’t in the band, they also wouldn’t be on permanent rotation - they’d fight for their place with everyone else. I think he is such a phenomenal talent, that if he decided to do a duet with Celine Dion, well.........I’d even listen to that. *holds nose*

I don’t know anywhere near as much about the other 3 guys in the band as I do about Billie. From what I know, Bill seems like a real cool guy. Jason seems like ( ... )

I hear you on the PHGP thing...I'm sure that bothered Billie, too but its a trade off, I guess. He did get to have the small club show experience again which he's unlikely to get with Green Day and I'm sure he knew full well going in what it would be like. Unfortunate, but that's the price of fame.

For me, as thrilled as I was for my friends who got to go - and like you, loving the shaggy blonde 'do - I'm never going to be totally happy about Billie (or Mike or Tre for that matter, should the occasion arise) doing anything band-wise that's not Green Day - or something else TOGETHER, like The Network or FHT. I want MY band back, man. And I really can't get past that. *sigh* So many neuroses, so little time. ;)

Agreed about the PHGP issue. I think everyone on my friends list who saw them had listened to the music and knew the songs, but I'm willing to bet there were some people there who didn't have a clue and were just there for the Green Day factor. I think if you're going to see a band, you should make sure you know their music. Any other reason kind of seems like an insult to the musicians involved.

And *hugs*, your journey home in the snow sounds horrible. But I am envious of the baking.
