Yeah, that's my gut instinct too. Like, applying for something in-house was different - that's like painting the room a new colour, not moving to a new house altogether. I might see about picking up a seasonal part-time on the weekends in the summer for more cash and just leave it at that. Moving to another country is gonna shake me up enough. No need to go adding to it!

That sounds like a lot of fun. Especially the up until three chatting about intellectual stuff and stretching your brain part. I have a couple of local friends like that, who I don't see anywhere near often enough, and it always feels so damn good to spend time with them.
I have no advice on the job front, mostly because I share the "Oh it's okay I guess I'll get by" thought that a new job might bring. Having said that, I've spent my entire professional life leaping without looking, taking jobs that just sounded interesting no matter the consequences. And now I have the perfect job. So there's something to be said for that. If that helps. /pointless ramble.
