Politics.... I just dont want to know anymore

Tomorrow in the UK there is the referendum about AV. I have every intention of voting in it and I intend to vote for change as the current system is even more crap. Currently my one man one vote is actually one man 0.638 of a vote. Under AV I'll get a massive one man 0.828 of a vote. Woo........... hoo......... But is the fact that independents try to the best they can an argument to vote for the independent that takes your fancy? If you are not determined that your vote has to a candidate who can definitely win, why not bolster the candidates who are fighting the good fight and need the publicity? If nothing else, the bigger parties who are fighting for votes will note that their policies must have some fans and give them more thought.

Not shit-stirring, but this is something I have also been thinking a lot as Aus is dangerously close to ending up with the absurd two party false dichotomy (like the US) where people feel they have to vote A or B because C is a waste - which means that of course you only end us with A or B.

And, again, I'm not trying to make you feel like crap or start a fight. I do get similarly depressed about politics and you have a right to do whatever you damn well please with your vote. I just disagree with your reasoning.

From what I've seen there's a very big difference between different governments: they screw you in different ways. Labour throw money away willy-nilly, the Tories refuse to spend. Neither is good for the country as a whole, but they are definitely *different*.
