I'm seriously considering starting a rare pairs comm, depending on how the poll turns out, and I agree that challenges spotlighting a certain pair or general scenario are useful.

I know there are a couple of rare pairs communities--hp_remembrall, one_true_pair, hprarepairs, alohomorare--but as the above poster said, they're mainly dead. I'd totally be willing to join another, especially if it's going to have challenges. I just wish I knew where the rareHET communities were. ...OK, yeah. I really mean I want to read more Pansy/Percy. :D

Well. I do. How well it works out really depends on who joins and what sort of challenges are issued, right? And that'd be different for each mod. I'd say give it a go, if you can handle and want the responsibility, and see what comes up. If it works, we'll get more rare pairs. At worst, there'll be one more community that doesn't have much activity. No penalty for that. :)

hprarehet? Looks less than completely dead, and a couple of intiguing fics even for a confirmed slasher at a glance. Easiest way is to check the comms any het-interested members of your f-list belong to.

Just wanted to clarify my answer above. Clicked the 'maybe' as I'm not a writer/artist, so I wouldn't join/contribute, but I would be very interested to see such a community go up. I love the rare pair side of the fandom, and am often disappointed at what I find.

If you want a larger response to the poll, you might want to pimp this to daily_snitch and/or quickquote, as they reach a large portion of the fandom.

Re: Harry/Lucius, that's not really a rare pair anymore. There's a very active mailing list (Beloved Enemies) with close to 500 fics posted to it so far that might help satisfy your Harry/Lucius cravings. :-)
