Seitan

Tonight aliencrabcakes and I ventured into the uncharted territories of making seitan. (for those who don't know, it's a wheat-gluten based meat substitute that is super high in protein) All-in-all, it went very well, but with a few odd hiccups. We used a recipe that she_is_kaygee recommended and made a few of our own adjustments.

oh darn - you'll just have to come visit us sometime so we can cook for you. ;-) but in the meantime, if you use the recipe linked above, don't put more than 2 tablespoons of nutritional yeast into it unless you love salty seitan. let us know how yours turns out! :)

Hmmm... You might try using lower sodium tamari instead of soy sauce to reduce the saltiness factor. :)
