Favourite H/C moments in Fic - no 5

Another week, another h/c button with rec(s)

I am not a fan of amnesia fic. When its done well, it can really add depth and drama to a fic. However, as its not really one of my buttons, I thought I'd explore a broader button which is: Hero versus the world. This is a very very broad button but can be drilled down into a few key highlights.

I love your lists! I've already read a few of those (Red and In Reverse - totally amazing) and will definitely check out the others.
Myself, I'm rather partial to amnesia fic and I adore the hero(es) against incredible odds.
If you're bored, have nothing to do, and want something to read, these are a few of my faves (all SPN):

Apercu by Muffy Morrigan (ff.net) - Dean against pretty much everybody, but things are not exactly as they seem.
Translations by Cheryl W. (ff.net) - Dean and Sam and crooked cops.
Last Plane Out by Muffy Morrigan (ff.net) - Hurt Sam and Dean having issues with Sam's friends. (I seriously suck at summaries :(... )
Gone by reading (ff.net) - part of a 'verse but part where Sam has amnesia. Just really amazing character development.
The Bed by The Door by K Hannah Korossy (ff.net) - Amnesiac Dean deals with Sam being gone... sorta.
When Our Minds Betray Us by Sweet as Punch (ff.net) - Amnesia Sam.

Yay! More fic to read (I love your lists too :))

I've read Gone and I thought about including it but it didn't quite fit into my 'hero vs the world' thing. It definitely goes on the amnesia fic list though. Sigh - so good. I love the Strangers and Angel's verse!

Its the hero being on his/her own. Removed from the support and friendship they have come to know and rely on.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Also: What I like in amnesia fics it the trust. When the Team/friends find the hero and have to gain his trust (again) in order to help him.

There is that, true :) I think what frustrates me with amnesia fics is the balance between OOC and keeping in character. Not a lot of fics get it right.

But, I love to give 'em a try :)

Yeah, but what is OOC and what not in amnesia fic? When you think that what we are and how we react is a sum of our previous experiences and these experiences are missing...

Exactly! So hence the fine line writers have to tread. What is believable OOCness and what is not? And I think a lot comes down to personal pref and takes on the situation.
