Here's part 6. Spoilers for 1x06 Countrycide. If you think about it, Jack didn't really have a huge part in this episode, so very few screencaps for this one. Screencaps from The Institute.
Jack smashes through a wall in a tractor and shoots all the cannibals. He hesitatently lets Gwen talk to the leader, and is disgusted to discover that they eat people because it makes them happy.
I think he knew what the guy was going to say, and that was why he initially didn't want Gwen talking to him. And oddly, I wasn't surprised that Jack had tortured people, don't know why really.
I agree with you about Ianto. He also seemed annoyed with people in this ep for not getting over their issues and moving on fast enough - getting really upset when Gwen and Owen want to rescue Tosh and Ianto first, insisting their adults and can take are of themselves and the kid comes first - he's right, of course, and this seemed like another example of how much more experience and training for these types of situations Jack's had than the others. As well as an example of the tough decisions being the leader entails
( ... )
Jack used to torture people! This came as quite a shock to me. Sure, he lied and cheated and conned but torture? This adds a whole new element to Jack. This is his dark side.
This isn't really too surprising. We know from Doctor Who that Jack did something bad enough to warrant the death penalty at least once (though he did manage to seduce his way out of it, in typical Jack fashion). Granted, what warrants capital punishment in one society won't in another, but it still indicated a definite "not nice" streak that never got touched on until now.
My favourite too. Still. :) With Rhys coming second, but...
Anyway, I was looking at an article with a pic of John Barrowman and his partner, and here in the first cap... Both places, his watch is on his right wrist (well, sort of makes sens in the cap... the wrist control is on his left wrist) but it's just something I notice.
Oh, and the last cap... yes. Jack definitely has something about Gwen, but I'm not sure it's exactly... physical attraction. There is something about Gwen that I think Jack wants to protect, perhaps to be close to it, or, perhaps (if my theory about Gwen being able to act as a Rift key) to ensure the safety of. I'd really like to know.
I've tried, and it just feels bizarre (I regularly wear bracelets on my right wrist, but the watch... just doesn't work for me :) )
Anyway, it was an observation, not a criticism, of course. My point was that while in the movie he has reason to (it's much more convenient, I guess, to access the functions on the wrist control with the right hand... assuming he's right-handed), he does so in real life.
A point of wonder - he's wearing both the wrist control and a watch. So, does the wrist control not show the time? (again, I haven't watched the Doctor Who episodes, so if there's more info there, I'm sorry for the redundancy)
