Doctor Who, "Deep Breath"

We have a new Doctor!  A new start!  Alas, it seems like my disconnect from recent Doctor Who was due to showrunner more than actor playing the Doctor, and that hasn't changed.  Still, this was an okay episode with some things I very much enjoyed in this episode in addition to the things that I disliked.

However, I also think it was unnecessary emotional manipulation.
I AM SO GLAD SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME ABOUT THAT.

Also I didn't see the kiss with Vastra and Jenny. I'm beginning to think the conservative Muslim country I live in cut that scene.

Hi! So excited to have a new episode to comment with you :D Also, I need a Twelve icon!

I agree with soooo much of what you said. First of all, about how all of a sudden I'm really really enthusiastic about the show again! :D And before Deep Breath, I didn't even have a rewatch! I thought I may rewatch the last few specials, but felt totally not motivated. Particularly since the news came out that Moffat is staying for one more season after this one :/

I like that this Doctor is "calmer" somewhat. And gravitas is such a good word to describe him, based on what we saw so far.

I disliked the Madame Vastra, Jenny, and Strax trio for so long... I love Strax, but could never really warm up to Madame Vastra and Jenny. (Maybe also cause The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood were my least fave episodes in that season.) Finally I think they're growing on me. They provided the sense of familiarity among the huge change of the regeneration. The same with Clara. Totally reminded me of Rose and Nine's regeneration *melancholy sigh*
