Yay! That just resolved all of the nigglies that I had with the end of Boom Town that none of the other post-eps could. You just wrapped it all up so nicely. Super-super job.

I actually haven't read any other post-eps for "Boom Town." But all I could think about when I saw the tag was about that scene in WWIII, and the long-term implications. Plus I loved the idea of really examining Jack's role in the trio. And also, I can so totally see the Doctor willingly shouldering the blame and continuing to keep Mickey's secret.

Which is such a *stupid* thing for him to do. But totally in character, considering all the other blames he's willing to shoulder.

Like I said, screwed-up, but in a lovely-to-read way.

Poor Nine. He wants so much to always fix everything, no matter what. Hence "Father's Day."

On a completely random icon note, is that Chris Demetral?

They're all so fucked-up in such a lovely, poignant way. And they're all acting spot-on in this, right down to Jack's atrophied sense of decency & handkerchief (he's *not* a gentleman, but he's a darling). Love the picture you've drawn of Shireen, too, and Rose is *so* 19.

Also, now, I'm totally thinking about Cap'n Jack dancing with Donald O'Conner, and...dammit.

I love that Kaye took over the role in White Christmas cos O'Conner broke his leg. And I hope desperately that we never actually see Shireen, so I can keep giving her bits to do in fanfic...

Aw, but that makes me *sad* because I love to watch O'Conner dance, and he's a dancer I also love to hear sing (Astaire and Kelly, they're not quite so good at it...), and him with Crosby? That'd be cool.

Ha! Well, if RTD keeps up with last season, by the end of the second season we'll know every last third and fourth cousin twice removed that Rose has, so...

Actually, my guess is we won't go back to Earth nearly as much next series, cos now that the mainstream audiences are hooked, they can go off gallavanting through space and not be as tied to Earth (and Jackie and Mickey).

That was just lovely! It was great to see Jack acting with such sympathy and a surprising amount of moral decency! (So long as he doesn't make a habit out of it, like) ;)

Jack fished a clean and pressed handkerchief out of his hip pocket. She gave him a funny look.

"A gentleman always carries one," Jack said with complete sincerity, earning a watery smile before she blew her nose.

Loved this. Probably because my dad always carries a perfectly laundered hanky in case of emotional crisis, even though his daughters are now all grown up now. :)

Wonderful story. :)

My father always has a handkerchief--ironed even--folded and tucked into his sport coat pocket. I have a half-dozen of them in my drawer, from all the times he's handed me one and I've not given it back.

You just managed to pinpoint why I love this trio's relationship(s) so much - it's friendship, first and foremost and I love that about. it. Lovely fic.

I really love the group dynamic, and wanted to play with how Jack fits in and rather than being an intruder, is exactly what the two of them need sometimes.
