That was fantastic. Jack does make the perfect girlfriend doesn't he? I like that you made him as perceptive as he should be. And the Doctor was just perfectly Doctor. Very good.

Thanks so much for the kind words--I'm so glad you liekd it! This was really my first go at writing Jack for real, and I just love him to bits. He makes a great buffer between Nine and Rose, because he's so good at reading people. I love the idea that he's all safe and platonic best friend-y with Rose, but still Flirty McFlirty Pants with Nine.

I think Jack is smooooooth. Yet still endearingly dorky sometimes. But yes--the martini in the face of certain death endeared him to me immensely!

Thanks! So glad you liked it! I just couldn't let go of the idea that there was a little something missing from the end of "Boom Town", after the tag of WWIII where the Doctor asked Mickey to come with them, and wanted to sue that to explore Jack's place in the trio.

Go figure -- I had just watched "Boom Town" tonight, too.

This is absolutely lovely, and a side of Jack that doesn't make it onscreen but is completely believable. His more honorable instincts win out here, but his more flamboyant side definitely makes an accounting of itself! I love that . . . it really gives a lot of life to his interaction with Rose here.

"I've got a lot of baggage, me. What's another handbag or two?"
What a wonderful line for the Doctor, and so very poignant. Whimsical yet angsty all at once, just like the Doctor himself. And yes, continuing to keep Mickey's secret for Rose's sake is very much like him.

I think you've really summed up the nature of Rose's relationship with Mickey in a way that does it justice without dismissing it as meaningless; after all, "comfortable, warm, and familiar" may not be deathless romance, but it's sweet in its own way.

Love the Danny Kaye bit; so very Jack.

I am madly in love with Jack, and this was really my first real go at him (I don't really count "Odd Man Out" cos we didn't know him well enough after "Empty Child"). I love the dynamics of the trio, and how Jack fits in. I didn't think I could get so used to having him around, but I just love him to bits and pieces.

I am a rabid Danny Kaye fan, me. And if Jack was still hanging out in the UK by the end of WWII, I bet he would have seen Wonder Man loads of times.
