So glad to see you on LJ again, and unfortunately I relate to the fat-shaming in healthcare situations. The last mammo I had was surprisingly good, though - so much in fact I was actually a little upset, because I didn't know they could be done without pain on a person my size (all this time it was the person doing the procedure, and not just my oversized body causing the problem). It's so important to have that talk right off the bat with a new doctor, to get their opinions on larger patients, and ensure you're actually going to get fair, non-biased treatment.
Yes I've totally neglected LJ lately. It felt like almost everyone was leaving and the restrictions on content are difficult for me.
I've been in HMOs that required you to officially switch to a primary doctor before you've seen them even once, so it's difficult to find someone to work with. For awhile, too, the HMO I was with the longest had no new PCPs to choose from and I was stuck. Then Dave's employer switched everyone to Kaiser and we went back to our former PCP there who's not ideal but tolerable. If I had a choice I'd never see another doctor. That's obviously not possible.
I'm glad you had a good mammogram! I hope you can have that great an experience again.
