CHCI week 1

As stated in the previous post, life as an apprentice at the CHCI is hectic, but interesting.  We are certainly learning a lot!  We started with a general introduction to the facility, the people, and safety on Monday.  The sanctuary stresses that everything is “for the good of the chimps” and so the entire place is ran with that idea in mind.  ( Read more... )

This is very neat stuff, Laura! I'm glad to hear that you're diving right in and enjoying the immersion.

How exactly do the chimps name the paintings?

The pantings/drawings we are using are all Moja's. She was asked to paint specific objects either vocally, in sign, or both. Many of the drawings the chimps will name in sign language after they draw them.
