This prompt. Being read aloud to is for little kids, and Finn is making a concerted effort to grow up, so he definitely doesn't indulge in it. Much. Well, Kurt has a nice voice, okay.

So the whole thing sounded kind of sappy... )

fanfiction: glee, genre: canonesque, character: kurt hummel, character: finn hudson, mostly: fluff

Awwwwwww, so adorable. I love me some Hudmel brothers, and I loved the way you sketched their dynamic here. There were a lot of great lines in here, but I think my fav was: “Uh, I think you just insulted both of us.” He considered. “Me twice.” That is just so very them, and it made me happy, like this--> :D

Awww. So sweet :)

Brother fics are totally my favorite, and this is just the sort of sweet interaction with the bitchiness and defensiveness and decency that I wish the show would give us. The ending with the fist bump sums it up so nicely.

I think my favorite part, though, were the bits about how differently Finn and Kurt's childhoods went. That Burt basically ended up treating Kurt like a mini-adult, and that Carole overprotected Finn. Because I think both happen in situations like that, and seeing the difference in the two families and how they handled a very similar situation- both with the absolute best of intentions- is fascinating. (And another reason that RIB need to give us more brother moments, thank you.)

Lovely, lovely work!

Also, just so you know, your links on the comms are broken- there's an extra / at the end.

You're welcome.

I have SO much more to say about Burt and Kurt, but for reasons beyond my control, I can't say any of it for a while. But I agree with you- poor Burt seems so lost on some things, and I think he actually harbors more sexism than he thinks he does. Not in a jerk way, just in an unconscious, he's a Midwestern guy in his 40's-50's type of way. (Although I firmly believe that he can cook competently, because Kurt and Burt bonding while cooking = <3. )

I would love to see the third season dwell on family more. Maybe we could even meet Rachel's dads!! :)

OMG I FIRMLY BELIEVE THIS. I mean not so much because of anything we've seen him do as because I'm assuming that's where Kurt got it. Because Kurt is wildly sexist in that lax, "well they're girls, they're moody; also it is my manly duty to protect them" way. I think he's improved this season (because... oh god, what was it; he nodded along to Quinn's objectification rant and... there was something else), but it's def. there. And I just - rather think he gets it from dad.

Idk what to think about Burt and cooking, lol. Like he couldn't for that first dinner, but then he must have learned - but then in BIOTA, it seemed like - I mean, "I would have been happy learning how to make toast", joke though it was, does kind of imply that he doesn't do much unless it's specifically to bond with Kurt... BUT AGAIN, if Kurt was being resistant about Friday dinners before, one assumes Burt was making them. So I just have no idea anymore ( ... )

So perfect. They're so brotherly and adorable and it's so easy to picture Finn all curled up under his blankets while Kurt reads to him(RIB< you listening?).
