oh, Emmys.

1. Mary McDonnell got "snubbed" again. Sure, I'm sad, but I didn't expect her to get nominated by an elite board who has a stereotype that she, unfortunately, does not fit in ( Read more... )

actor: christopher heyerdahl, show: sanctuary, show: bsg, actress: mary mcdonnell, awards: emmys, actress: amanda tapping

Hey, at least Sanctuary got nominated for something. That in itself is a coup and beggars (read: sci fi fans) can't afford to be choosers. I can just imagine if Amanda had been nominated for "Requiem".

idiot entertainment reporter: "I've never actually seen Sanctuary, but I hear it has great visual effects. And you were nominated for your portrayal of Doctor Helen Magnus in an episodes called Requiem. Mourning the passing of a colleague in that ep?"
Amanda: "Oh, no, not at all. It was just Robin and I in a submarine under the Bermuda triangle when my character is accidentally infected with a brain parasite that causes paranoia, psychotic rage, and hypersexuality."
idiot entertainment reporter: 0.0 "Right. And, it says right here that you got renewed for a second season...?"

ROFL. That is a hypothetical interview that totally could have taken place, too. I remember Amanda being on Good Morning America to promote season one of Sanctuary, and the interviewer didn't even know how to pronounce her NAME, let alone anything about the show. *headdesk*

I just researched when the next Geminis will be taking place, and it's in November of 2009, with the Jury commencing somewhere around right now, actually. I will bet my life that Sanctuary will get more than a few noms, and that Amanda will get nominated for Requiem. I think she's taken home three Geminis total now. What's a fourth? :D Piece of cake!

mmm, caaaaake...

You know, I'll admit that I spent a lot of years in ignorance of how to actually pronounce the woman's name ("tap-ing?" "tape-ing?"), but I'm not an interviewer, either. Dude, if you're going to interview a person, at least get your fact-checker to figure out how their name is said! *bops interviewer on the head*

We'll keep our fingers crossed for the Geminis. That's the kind of awards thing where a show like Sanctuary can really shine unlike the hack-ass emmies.

Oh, hey, I don't think I've mentioned that I really like your new layout. Except (omfg, she's about to accuse you of being too pink!!!) that, as nibbly as Robin's lips look, seeing that shirt in a color other than its original blue has me doing a double-take every time as I try to figure out which effing episode it came from (Requiem, right?). But I still want to do sinful things to that mouth, so it's all good ;p Hers, too. People that pretty shouldn't run around with their mouths slightly open. Gives people like me all kinds of inappropriate impulses...*

TBH, I am so beyond not surprised. True Blood got 3 noms, all in technical aspects, which is such BS because Nelson Ellis & Alexander Skarsgard TOTALLY DESERVED some recognition. If it weren't for Mad Men + Sanctuary, I'd skip the Emmys entirely.

Very happy for Sanctuary being nominated. Science Fiction actors/shows are always overlooked in these types of awards, its a shame and I doubt it will ever change.
