To Quote Pink Floyd, "Leave Those Kids Alone!"

Apr 21, 2011 10:24

I've been disgusted in the past by how the children of politicians are treated by the media and the general public and it seems to have gotten worse in the past 24 hours.

That was an excellent post! I don't see how Bristol Palin's pregnancy has anything to do with her mother's abstinence-only platform, either. No mother is around their daughter 24/7.

Bristol Palin being paid to talk about abstinence makes about as much sense as having Charlie Sheen address sexual addicts.

Actually no it doesn't.

Having someone who did it and suffered the consequences come and talk about all the bad things that happened to them is a great idea. This is true whether you are talking about sex, drugs, alcohol, or any other behavior you are trying to discourage.

Charlie Sheen on the other hand would show up and talk about how great sex with porn stars is.

Why should I hate her? She's entertaining. Anyone who can make me ROFL deserves my respect applause.

I think Palin earns opprobrium for her contributions to the dumbing down of America. Along with a certain divisiveness that frankly, generates all sorts of enmity.

You cannot dumb down what is already mega-dumb.

Believe me, I'm hyper-super-duper dumb so I know.

Palin and Santorum are rightwing nutzo crypto fascists. Therefore, everything is fair game and you should get with the narrative.

All of which she can be criticized for.

However until she starts making campaign speeches for her mom people have no business attacking her and more importantly attacking her child as a way of attacking her mom.

The point of the post is to criticize people for THEIR actions, not the actions of their parents. When her pregnancy was first announced on the campaign trail, people bashed her even then because of her mother's abstinence-only agenda. There was no reason for that.

You make your children political footballs, you've yourself to blame when people follow your lead. She's the one who started the whole "Obama wanted to kill Trigg" nonsense and when people went after that said "Do as I say, not as I do." Sorry, I have no respect for her as a political figure or for that matter as someone who understands the mere concept of honesty.

She's no Grover Cleveland and she never will be.

So for everyone who says "I want to leave a better world for our children," it's OK to call their kids dumb and fat and ugly?

Your logic... is not logic.

For everyone who says "Mr Obama wants to kill my son with the Killer Death Panels of Doomy Doomy Doom-Doom" yes, it is fair to respond.

I just don't get how dragging yourself down into the mud to join them helps anything.
