So, on December 18, we had two dogs. Now, we have none. One was Haley, who I've written about before. The other was Smudge, her constant companion and cousin, two years her junior. Smudge died last night after an extremely sudden and traumatic illness. ( This first cut is about the medical cause and what led up to his passing. )

I am not, let me say, a dog person. I like cats. They're low-maintenance, high-fun, and go away when I don't need them. Perfect for me. Dogs are demanding, and need walks, and kinda sit there most of the time, and eat their own poop ( Read more... )
