Hey again! Police State week didnt garner much enthusiasm, but look at this! The new subject that you folks voted in for the next fortnight (July 26 - August 8) is:

"Morality, Ethics, Religion & the Family"

We've had a Religion week before, but now this subject is a bit broader, and could be seen in a different context. Anyway, here are some points that could be included:

- Personal and cultural values in society
- Social norms, taboos, customs and moral conduct
- When cultures meet: integration, and the clash of civilizations
- Evolution of morality, altruism, charity, and the ethics of care
- Religion and its relation to morality and ethics; atheism and morality
- Morality and politics: liberal/conservative differences
- Amorality: anti-social behavior, corruption, moral pathology
- History of ethics: major paradigms, thinkers and works
- The ethics of modern and post-modern society: capitalism, consumerism, hedonism, sensationalism
- Military ethics, international conventions and human rights
- Journalism ethics and moral standards
- Moral absolutism, nihilism, relativism, skepticism, syncretism, misanthropy
- Justification for using force; the extents of crime punishment
- Race, gender, sexual, and age equality and discrimination
- Demographics: major phenomena, problems and demographic policies
- Religion, social customs, marriage and the family
- Functions of the family, forms and types of family relations
- Principles, values and legislation regarding the family
- Procreation, contraception, abortion, euthanasia
- Parenting and adoption: legitimacy issues and socio-psychological issues
- Elderly care, issues of the third age
- Family economics
