How else to respond to a post that says that since country A is currently but not usually richer than country B, it must be that country A has a better political-economic system.

blatant individualism/selfishness hasn't been raised to a romantic pedestal where it renders even the remotest attempt at team-work dead in its roots); and 2) The presence of smart politicians making well-thought decisions, due to the simple fact that they're having the public's real interest as their top priority, as opposed to that of their corporate masters. Thus achieving what the article calls "Orderly fairness".

Wow and wow. I apparently missed those the first time around. Blatant individualism. Whoa.

Oh, that I am in complete agreement with!

Curiously though, that was not what your macro says.

Blatant individualism. Whoa.

I now realize I missed to mention: rampant denial. ;)

That and a half dozen more examples. He really is clueless, and so is his wife, Ann "We've given you people all you need to know" Romney.

It's an interesting article. What makes an impression is that the prime-minister Martin is now reaping the fruit of his prior efforts, i.e. having a clear idea and vision requires not just some long-term thought, but the will to pursue your vision methodically, and implement it step by step.

Meanwhile, sadly nothing is being mentioned about Quebec... Some call it a ticking time bomb, not so much ethnically any more, but mostly economically and hence, socially. Others prefer to prudently stay silent on the subject.

Socialism/Socialist programs aren't absolutely good or absolutely bad, it all depends on

2) The presence of smart politicians making well-thought decisions, due to the simple fact that they're having the public's real interest as their top priority

which is easier said than done. If Canada has that, good for them. We don't. I want all sick people to have access to medical care, I just don't trust the government to provide that service efficiently.

Indeed, that's why social programs do not feature in my 2-point list of crucial factors for a successful society. What you cited in italics, does.

Who do you trust? Bankers and businessmen?

Well, here are your honest bankers. And here's your honest job-creator who cares so much for Americans. I'm sure he'll make a very great and smart politician - exactly the one you need right now.
