The precise details of this bet were never too clear

Hardly a surprise. There must be enough room for goalpost-manoeuvring afterwards!

To your question: ask Fox News! They know the One and Only, Unabridged and Fair Truth. And they'll be sure to serve it to you without any bias and spin!

I think we are both gentlemanly enough not to do that. Plus, since it's going to charity, it's not like either side is personally gaining from it--aside from bragging rights

=)

Yeah, it was June 1, and it was 10K, but then to compromise we moved it a month forward and we were gonna drop to 7.5K but you agree on 8.5K.

The "panel" was....BDJ, Rukh and....???

Is the requirement 8500 protesters at one location, or 8500 total throughout the country? There were well over 100 Occupy protests for May Day. Numbers from SF are reported here: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2012/05/01/bloomberg_articlesM3CGZL6S972901-M3CR0.DTL

My understanding of our agreement was that it was 8500 in one location. I'm positive that nation wide we hit 10K.

I'm pretty sure it was more than that. A lot more.

In NYC or nation-wide? Cause yeah, 10k is a low bet, nation-wide. Easily 100 cities with 100 peeps each.
i dunno if 10K is low for NYC. I heard 30K, but I'm not an expert on telling a crowds size.

Numbers games never work in real life. They can't be proven, and you will always, always, find some crackpot engaging in blatant lies and plenty of gullible suckers who'll listen to him and never accept he's a blatant liar even if shown articles where he's claiming the sky is green.

Yes, well, I entered into this agreement with a fellow who I believe to be honorable. Not to mention, worst case scenarioL I give 20 bucks to an animal shelter. That ain't so bad.

Hence why I am appealing to larger numbers of folks and sources; one source is insufficient, I feel. Too biased or too inaccurate. I'm hoping to create some sort of (GASP!) consensus around this, and see if we can't work it out together. As a team.

hahaha, no, it's not you I made the bet with. Twas Bruce, iirc. Waiting for him to show and try to collect....or pay up. I don't think either of us will try to wiggle out of it--though anything is possible.

I like The Atlantic, and generally consider them trustworthy too--but did you follow the links?

While that is one source giving me 8000, I was hoping for something slightly more...reliable? I mean, they took the 8000 number from a tweet....

Might as well take the OWS twitter....
