The Science month was pretty interesting, as far as science & technology topics were concerned. Now, here's what you guys chose to be the monthly topic for April:

Democracy vs Totalitarianism

It's quite a broad (and fruitful) subject, by any means. Here are some key points that could be included, whenever you feel like delving into this:

- History of democracy - philosophies and concepts of democracy; democratic societies of the past.
- Forms and varieties of democracy: representative, parliamentary, liberal, constitutional.
- The republic and republicanism - history and theory; main principles.
- Inclusive, participatory, socialist, anarchist democracy.
- The role of NGOs and grassroots organizations, cooperatives, unions, and other forms of groups.
- Radicalism, Kemalism, anarchism, Iroquis society.
- Polyarchy, sociocracy, netocracy, e-democracy; oligarchy.
- Criticism of democracy: mob rule, irrational voters, efficiency of the system, wealth disparity; sociological criticisms.
- Opposition to democracy: from monarchy, from communism, from Islam.
- Authoritarianism and totalitarianism - principles, similarities and differences.
- The Cold War era and the clash between democracy and totalitarianism.
- The concept of the Philosopher King; absolute monarchy.
- Personality cult and state propaganda under totalitarianism.
- Autocracy and kleptocracy.
- The police state - in reality and in dystopian fiction.
- The communist system, Stalinism, Maoism and the one-party state.
- Fascism, military dictatorship; theocracy.
- Global societal tendencies for the future.
