[Remember this grinning face? It hasn't been seen for a while, that's for certain. Paul's been dealing with shit - a lot of very shit lately, and while he claims time and again that he's not in charge, that's certainly not what it seems like for all the support, comforting ( Read more... )

That, well, that sounds wonderful, but... [don't mind the worried face she's making, she's just overly concerned.] is it wise?

[His face is serious to answer her question but his voice is still slightly exuberant.]

There...really aren't wise or not-wise decisions with so much death and destruction around us. We all need a day off once and a while.

[she doesn't seem so certain about that answer, but she can understand]

I... suppose that makes sense. [a brief pause] I'd be glad to help, if you need it.

[The Russian's face appears on the screen, and he gazes at the man, almost hesitant. His eyes looked downwards, but then returned with a boyish radiance.]

Will there be vodka?

[Smile.]

There will be vodka, Russia. I don't think Wire would let us get away with not having it.

[Oh my, Is this an American that can understand how celebrations work? This one might not be as bad as he had anticipated. You earned yourself a gold star, Paulie]

Hooray! There is no party at all if there is not vodka!

I must admit, the offer of drinks does sound very good at the moment.

[Since he's yet to wake up from whatever sort of dream this is. Granted he knows it isn't, but thinking it is sometimes helps to ease how insane he feels when he can rightly say he's spoken to zombies.]

That's what I was thinking.

[Paulie grins boyishly.]

You must not have been here long yet, I don't recognize you. Paul Knight - but everyone just calls me "Paulie".

Though I must ask, are the drinks free? I have no form of payment here, since I'm new and all. Though I certainly plan on finding something to do while I'm here eventually.

You would be correct. Charles Xavier, a pleasure, Paulie. [He only hesitates a second before using the nickname. He thought Paul was fine, but if Paulie worked then why not?]

So you're a long standing resident of New Ashford?

Just like everything else - yeah. I know it's a pretty new concept for a lot of you new people...but New Ashford runs a lot like a commune. The only kind of buying and trading that goes on here is for extra things. Everything essential is just...pooled together and split up as fairly as we can make it.

[He grins.]

And drinks at a party are pretty essential, right?

[Paul nods solemnly to Charles' last question.]

As long as it's been here. New Ashford was just established six months ago, actually, when we found the old city would be good for reclamation.

[Paul just smiles back. He's not one to care about impressions.]

There will be people assigned to watching the walls. Feel free to go up and help whenever you want.

You're...George, right? Did the magic-users help with your concerns? They told me they didn't think you'd be able to infect anyone, especially not with the charm they gave you - one of those ones that counters diseases. They don't have to make those much anymore they said, not with how the only problem these days is becoming a zombie after you die.
