I have always enjoyed stories that explore power imbalances, but this may well be one of the most nuanced and layered portrayal I've read. There are no easy answers in this one. Even Charles realizes that he isn't exactly the "good guy" in all this. And Erik knows he's not.

I don't know if you've ever read the book "Clarissa", but there's something about this slow build-up that reminds me of it. And yet, there's so much affection here between the two of them. They really do need each other in ways that neither of them really understand. And I love how the physical element is not the most important thing here. Who owns who....and yet sex is secondary.

I'm new to this fandom and of course to this story, and I don't know what your typical posting schedule is like, but this is the story I'm definitely going to be waiting for. Thank you so much for this.

Thank you! And that's certainly not something I plan on changing in this. It's what drew me to this prompt in the first place! :D

Hmm, no, I haven't. :( My speciality is more classic sci-fi and dystopian literature...? But yes, definitely, they do need each other. Erik because he really has no one else that he can confide in, and Charles because, well, he doesn't really have a place in this world anymore, except for either opposing or supporting Erik. The physical element is really just a reflection of their (especially Erik's) emotional dependence on one another.

My posting schedule seems to be... Far apart, at this point. XD But I'm hoping to go a bit faster in the future! After Chapter 21 I start the build-up to the end, and I'm very excited. c: And welcome to the fandom, dear! Thanks so much for the welcome! I'm mostly in Supernatural but have been utterly astonished by how much I'm enjoying this one. Yes - yours, Stockhom, and Nine Ten Eleven are my "holy trinity" in this fandom.

I have mixed feelings about knowing yours is coming to an end but I know I'll be re-reading it many times!

No problem! <3 I haven't been in Supernatural fandom all that much (joined kinda late, haven't watched the new seasons), but this fandom really is extraordinarily talented! Actually, it's the only one I've been in, for many years. XD And that's excellent company, thank you! Ooooh, and have you read A Curious Carriage of Crystal and Cold? I haven't quite finished it myself but I've really enjoyed what I've read! It's like reading a real sci-fi book! :D

Thank you for the update.... I am peevishly in the Magneto camp after this... I do love your portrayal Erik the tyrant who just wants his 'bride' but is so tarnished he knows he'd have to coerce 'her ' to stay. Amazing that Erik conquered a world for Charles and what does he get... assassination ....

I can't wait for the inevitable sex.... I am sad however that poor Erik wants Charles so desperately, what a glutton for punishment.
