Random state of the clothing

Was finally forced into buying new jeans today when my old ones started to lose an inseam while at work. (Oops.) Discovered I have nearly as much stabby hate for current jean trends as I do for shoes. Everything in the "Misses" department is low-rise, boot-flare, snug-stretch blah-dee-blah that make me look like a Disco Turnip, with my choice of ( Read more... )

I hate, hate, hate shopping for pants. The ones in my price range are odious in their style and once you find a nice looking pair, you have to buy some 4 sizes bigger to cover some stomach and have enough room for your legs. :(

You do realize I work for a department store and if you could find something you liked there I could let you use my discount.

That and I have 20% off coupons for friends and family this coming Sunday if you want one. That's even off of sales prices. :)

Not saying you'll find something you are in love with but you might find something you can make do with and won't have to pay crazy prices for it.

Hmm, if you can email me the name of the place I can scope the web and see if they carry shoes like I need? Thank you thank you thank you!

I'm just persnickety when it comes to footwear, especially for work.

I buy the Mossimo jeans (and pants) at Target @ ~$20/pair in the Juniors department.

Their basic bootcut/low rise really fit me just right, but I'm pretty high-waisted so normal pants look hideous on me. The "low rise' there isn't really that ultra-low rise though, it just sits a couple inches below the waist. I find that their sizes are pretty consistent across styles, too, and unless you are washing them multiple times per week they hold up really well.

Actually, I get like 90% of my clothes at Target. So if you don't already buy clothes there you may want to give it a look. They also have some really cute light jackets and shirts right now. Even their women's dept stuff is not all fugly - the department stores are the ones that really won't get over that hot pink/neon green shit that's been popular the last couple of years. I used to work in a "fashion" clothes store, and good lord was some of that stuff hideous.

I'll definitely have to check that out! I have a long torso, so "low rise" ends up riding even lower on me, usually, and I feel like I'm emulating that famous Jim Morrison photo. :/

I would still try on a pair or two - the price is right, and like I said, the quality is usually pretty good. In the women's dept their "Cherokee" brand is nice - I have a couple of shirts made by them. I know in the women's dept they carry regular styles of jeans, too.

Before Animefest I needed new pants, and I was able to get two pairs of slacks and a pair of jeans, including trying them on, in about 15 minutes.

i think i'm gong to start shopping for all of my jeans at 80's/90's thrift stores, for the very reasons you name.

i really don't want to be shoved into pants with a crowbar, nor do i want people to see the incision from my surgery.

and bellbottoms make me have insane 70's flashbacks, complete with bee gees soundtrack. NOT PLEASANT.

I managed to watch "Virtuosity" enough times to finally reassociate the Bee Gees with a psycho killer in a purple pimp suit. Only a slight improvement, but it's getting there. ;)
