Random state of the clothing
Was finally forced into buying new jeans today when my old ones started to lose an inseam while at work. (Oops.) Discovered I have nearly as much stabby hate for current jean trends as I do for shoes. Everything in the "Misses" department is low-rise, boot-flare, snug-stretch blah-dee-blah that make me look like a Disco Turnip, with my choice of Super Plumber's Crack or Kung-Fu Camel Toe (depending on how high I pull them up in a futile attempt to actually cover more than 1/6th of my lower abdomen). Then we have the "Women's" department, where the pants designers think that the average woman is shaped like a Shmoo in jodphurs and wears no color other than screaming turquoise.
But no, I managed to find two pairs that were semi-decent; although nowhere near flattering, they at least end closer to my navel than my bikini line, the ankles are smaller than the waist, and I have a little room to move. Shoes, on the other hand, continue to elude me. I finally found another pair that I thought were great, my style, well made... oh look, they're just as obscenely expensive as the first style. *headdesk* I can find a hundred styles that are almost great, but with one fatal flaw that would make me crazy in short order. I need to somehow Frankenstein a pair together out of the meager offerings of today's styles.
