Don't take this wrong but that reminded me of the death speech from Anne of the 1000 Days (what you didn't think I only knew vamps and slash, did ya? lol), but with a bit more, almost, malice (only that's not quite the right word) rather than resignation... haunting maybe (as opposed to malice), in a universal truth kind of way. Very nice. *g*

I love that movie. That and 'A Lion in Winter'. I think I remember the scene you are talking about. She is sitting in the Tower with the sticks that mark off days. Now I am going to have to find that and watch it again. Maybe I can find it on TMC's website.

I never quite thought of the poem as you describe, its always great to hear how one touches someone or what it reminds them of. Thank you for the great comment.
