A Farewell to Friends

Drink, O friends of this
     appointed hour;
Drink this, the wine of my
     heart
squeez'd by my hand from
     bitter grapes, and green,
and tender, purpling the lips;
and, quaffing know
that each of you will be the
grapes
from which I wring the wine
of future days,
my vintner's hands blending
the purple and green into
a heady mix
to tantalize the palates of the
world.
